Laurie Mylroie

[edit]

Hi, Blubird26. As I'm sure you've noticed, your attempts to delete any information critical of Laurie Mylroie are being reverted. Even your more innocuous edits appear to be focused on giving a more positive spin to the article. Please reference Wikipedia:Neutral_point_of_view for more information on why this is discouraged. Thanks. Rockypedia (talk) 22:27, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Also wanted to add, the edit summary you provided for your last edit was misleading at best, and an outright attempt at deceit at worst: you stated "since New York law enforcement (FBI and prosecutor) support her, it can't be said that all authorities found her wrong." However, nothing in the passage you edited ever states that "all" authorities found her wrong, merely that authorities at those agencies listed had refuted her theories. Please refrain from using misleading edit summaries in the future. Thanks. Rockypedia (talk) 22:29, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Katieh5584. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Laurie Mylroie seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Katieh5584 (talk) 22:31, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kathie: I appreciate people who want to keep things factual and neutral. That's my attitude. But Rocky has a big grudge against Mylroie--and he's been surprisingly open about it on these pages. Since the head of NY FBI and the lead prosecutor in the Trade Center bombing supported Mylroie's work--as detailed in the article--it is factually inaccurate to say that it was "thoroughly refuted."

I don't appreciate that you have assigned "a big grudge against Mylroie" to me - nothing could be further from the truth. I stumbled onto this page and attempted to undo all of the deletions of any passages critical of Mylroie, in the interest of NPOV. Your edits are pro-Mylroie exclusively. In addition, the former head of the New York FBI office isn't even mentioned in the lead, and the three agencies that did refute her theories, did so thoroughly. Incidentally, that's not even my word, as it was there long before I came across this page, but I do find it to be accurate. Please apologize for accusing me of something for which you have no factual basis. Rockypedia (talk) 22:47, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Digging a little further, I've noticed that the cited letter from the former NY FBI chief comes from a primary source: Mylroie's own website. See Primary, secondary and tertiary sources for info on why opinion-based material that comes from the subject's own website may not be appropriate here. Rockypedia (talk) 22:57, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rocky: So you saw that the head of NY FBI, who led the investigation into the WTC boming, endorsed Mylroie's work? The disputed quote includes the FBI. Factually incorrect, as I wrote. Have you read her book? Have you even seen it? The quote is on the dust jacket. Because her work was associated with the Iraq war, she received nasty ad hominem criticism from those who opposed it; most of the criticism is just name calling. The page needs to be made more balanced and substantive. You may be well-intentioned (if I overlook the false vandalism complaint), but do you know enough about the background and the issues involved?

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drmies (talk) 02:36, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
