Section 98[edit]

Wow, great article. Thanks for the solid effort. - TheMightyQuill 16:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

minor spelling change comment[edit]

Hi; no biggie, just comment on my double-l in the "crsytallizing" fix on Section 98; I don't even know if this is still in modern stylebooks, as I see all kinds of "odd" spellings nowadays which seem to be simplifications of what "people of my generation" were raised with (that's so odd to say...). Anyway, rule of thumb was that "short" vowels produced a double-consonant, "long" vowels the single; so "repealed" looks right, but "crystalizing", if I'd used that correction, really doesn't. But maybe it's more "modern", I don't know. Gotta go pick out my grey hairs now ;-).Skookum1 19:21, 26 January 2007 (UTC) PS another one that gets me is seeing "mould" where "mold" is meant; i.e. using the spelling for slime mould when you're talking about a cake mold.... ;=)Skookum1 19:21, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

L-G issues[edit]

Please see Talk:List of Lieutenant-Governors of British Columbia. Consulting yourself, KenWalker, Fishhead64, maybe themightyquill, not sure who else is suitable (Mkdw and Ckatz?) about the issues raised there; my main problem is the inclusion of the colonial governors with the provincial L-Gs, although the earlier thing about the plural form is still somewhat of a concern for me...but then, I am a traditionalist with this sort of thing...which is "part of our distinctiveness" IMO...thinking also of a section on the more prominent/powerful role of the L-Gs in earlier times, especially in the pre-party era.....Skookum1 05:08, 27 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image help[edit]

Bobanny, I noticed that you created the logo for WP:LE. I am one of the primary editors for WikiProject:Fire Service and feel we need a logo as well; something similar to a fire department patch. I am no good with creating logos, but you seem to have a knack for it. If you are interested in helping out the Project, let me know. Cheers Daysleeper47 16:02, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I like the image a lot. Excellent. Is there a way to remove the background so the image is only the maltese cross? That way when I put it on a different colored background, it doesn't look awkward. Does that make sense. I'm not sure I am explaining well. --Daysleeper47 19:19, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review of an AfD decision you commented on[edit]

Sam Sullivan[edit]

The use of 'His Worship' is not an address but rather a title that comes with the office. Notice that a lot of Canadian Politician's page are styled 'The Honourable' or 'The Right Honourable' as appropriate.

--Cahk 23:14, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You've overlooked what it saids in the Style (manner of address) article (which, ironically, I created it from the first place) that 'Your Worship' is the oral form of addressing a mayor, but His Worship is a honorific prefix accorded to him by virtue of assuming the office of Mayor. Although I agree hardly anyone know this and use it, this does not mean the honorific prefix does not exist. [1] --Cahk 22:51, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Angelo Branca.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Angelo Branca.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Panorama[edit]

Really like your Vancouver pano shot from Chinatown. Fun trying to figure out where shot was taken.. Looks like Keefer and Columbia area... Anyway, reminded me of another I took a year ago from the viaduct here. Coincidentally, as I was writing this, got your note re: Vancouver buildings. Be happy to add that to the list, this whole wiki contribution thing is quite fleeting and uncertain for most people it seems, including myself, but I should have some quality time to contribute over the next month or two. It's kind of like a patchwork legacy and to-do list that gets passed forward and hopefully improved upon. Vogue is a good plan, I haven't even begun to closely peruse a whole lot of the Vancouver architecture articles yet, been busy mostly with stuff 'up north' and whatever else the pointer gravitates towards. Later.--Keefer4 10:18, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, thanks for ditching the unfathomable 'cite sources' note at Hastings St.--Keefer4 11:10, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[2] is one of those edits where formatting disappears unintended; I can't remember the technical reason/glitch and never did find that notice board discussion about it, but it's another example of strange code behaviour; unless ISBNs are automatically deleted if not wiki-formatted properly?Skookum1 08:42, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My User Review[edit]

Hey Bobanny. How are you? I have never left you a message nor really had a conversation with you and I feel I only know you by fighting together in the battle of Vancouver-related articles and projects. =) Anyway, I'm undergoing an editor review and as a fellow Vancouver WikiProject member and someone who has seen my evolution on Wikipedia (to some extent I suppose), I was hoping you could read over my Wikipedia:Editor review/Mkdw, respond to some of the comments left there, and leave some comments of your own. Thanks a bunch! Mkdwtalk 11:03, 16 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FPC[edit]

Hi thanks for the advise. I still indeed have alot to learn. My camera is in between "the "family" and "professional" categories. It's ashame that HP has a bad reputation with it comes to digicams. -- Selmo (talk) 07:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Patchbook[edit]

Are you okay with me not handling this possible new situation? Or what would you advise if things increase? SGGH 21:12, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FPC advice to Selmo[edit]

For helpful advice to an FPC newcomer, from bystander Yummifruitbat

Hey Bobanny, I just saw your advice about FPC on Selmo's talk page and I'd like to offer you this Wiki-cookie in recognition of what I see as an excellent example of how things should be done at FPC and elsewhere on Wikipedia. Thanks for taking the time to help out an FPC newcomer and proving me wrong in the process. Happy editing! --YFB ¿ 01:05, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Again[edit]

Thanks for your comments on my editor review. For something more on the light side, I've 'posted' an essay I wrote and developed called You know you're a Vancouverite when. I think you'll find it an interesting read. Mkdwtalk 10:12, 20 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Marc[edit]

I've just spent 30 minutes trying to do the same thing you did!! A good learning experience for me and I will be faster next time! --Slp1 18:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3RRs reverts[edit]

I did not notice overdoing your 3RR report, but if I inadvertently did, sorry. I added mine now above yours. Thanks. Atabek 19:37, 21 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - whilst Dettman has an Australian Medal of Merit I don't think this proves that he is a member of the Legion of Frontiersmen. Do you have any evidence of this? Gillyweed 09:10, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A potentally good photo[edit]

I have tried out the photomerge advise you gave me, agian thanks. For a while now, I've been trying to get a good shot of the library. I tried standing far away enough to get everything in, but that also meant traffic lights and billboards would disrupt the view.

I took two sets of photos from the same spot (a total of 9) and then stitched them together to get a relatively complete view of the east entrance with minor cut-offs. As you can see, my only problem now is the inconstant colouring. Before merging, I used match color to try to smooth it out, but I still got weird results. Is there any way to correct it? I still have the original photos if I need them.

By the way, the artifacts problem from the bridge was probably that I saved the pic in photoshop with the JPEG quality too low. My camera has 7MP, so to preserve quality this time, I brought it up to 11 in photoshop's JPEG save settings (which explains the huge file size). Thanks, — Selmo (talk) 05:53, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. — Selmo (talk) 17:35, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Legion of Frontiersman and AMM[edit]

G'day. I have attempted a merge between AMM and the Legion article. Please have a review of it and see if it is okay. I'll keep an eye on the article and revert any of the vandalism that seems so rife. It looks a good little article you've done. Maustrauser 21:56, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Alan Rector article has been improved.[edit]

Could you please revisit Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alan Rector? Some additions have been made to the Alan Rector article. --Eastmain 23:00, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Buildings list[edit]

Came to mind while I had a few minutes to check the list of Vancouver buildings you were mentioning a while back... I couldn't find it though. If you get a sec could you send me the link? Or the list itself. Thanks for trying to fix the Lions formatting too... Later.--Keefer4 10:42, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, there is quite a bit of talk now on the list page (good talk at that, but...), a lot of it is from myself. I was going to migrate it to the talk page, but thought I'd clear it with you since it's actually on your page. Thx.--Keefer4 02:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Go nuts. I just started the talk page after reading the discussion with a map of the fire. Bobanny 03:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EDSS edit[edit]

WOW. Thank you for upgrading my information on EDSS. I'm a newbie to this and all of the editing is coming slowly. I really appreciate your time and care. Where do I add the tag

to make sure the picture is labelled as one I took?

Dconlon268 03:54, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Panarama[edit]

Hi, sorry the late response. Thanks for you kind remarks. When I wrote that "I suck at photography" comment, I indeed feel bad at it because anything I posted was replaced by a better pic or some specific thing was wrong with it. It is true that some "imperfect" pictures are good too. Cheers — Selmo (talk) 15:52, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
