Welcome to Wikipedia Brenda. I hope you will not take my reversions of your well-meant "correction" on the Satire article personally. If you want to discuss the matter raised - it's the "done-thing" here to raise it in "discussion". I have already said what I think there. Best wishes - and hopefully we will see a lot more of you! --Soundofmusicals (talk) 00:36, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, there was no mention of a "done-thing" when I signed up. Quite to the contrary, I received a screen inviting me to start editing, which I did, only to have my comment changed back to the original - twice! Please direct me to the discussion page as I can see no links to it and I would like to discuss the matter on the (obscure) "done-thing" page. Brenda

"Done thing"? - click on these and you'll get the general picture

Here are a few good links for newcomers:

(the "discussion" tab for any article is right at the top - on the left, next to the "article" tag)

Main reason I contacted you was that I didn't want you to think I was being personal in reverting all your first batch of edits!

Latest Edit to Satire

[edit]

I don't altogether agree with you - "point of view" in this case would be more about disagreeing what the satire was trying to say (for instance if you really DID think that charities are a waste of people's money) rather than disagreeing about what satire is and how it works - the whole point of the article. If you haven't read the article carefully from the top down I do wish you would. It is not "authored" in the conventional sense of the word - many people have edited it from time to time, and I for one really can't remember who wrote which bit. I am honestly rather pleased with where we've managed to get - it is a difficult subject (if only because so many people misunderstand what it is about) and yet I think it is one of the better articles.

Still you ARE right that we try to avoid even the least hint of bias - and since the actual meaning of your new heading is, in context, a fair description of what follows we'll let it stand.

Don't mind my "grumps" - I am a real grumpy old man nowadays, I'm afraid.

All kinds of people on this site - all we have in common is a desire to get the brave experiment of Wikipedia working well. --Soundofmusicals (talk) 07:40, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally - I have continued the "discussion" on the talk page. "Sign" any comments you make with four "~" signs by the way - provided you are properly logged in this produces a signature like this one: --Soundofmusicals (talk) 08:47, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
