Lil Darkie moved to Draft:Lil Darkie
[edit]Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. A page you recently created, Lil Darkie, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines for new pages, so it has been moved to Draft:Lil Darkie where you can continue to work on it. Please consider using the Article Wizard or the Articles for Creation procedure. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read "Your first article". You may also want to read our introduction page to learn more about contributing. BLPs need sources, and WP:GNG or WP:MUSICBIO needs to be shown to pass WikiVirusC(talk) 12:12, 11 June 2022 (UTC)
- I do not understand how an artist with his level of notoriety does not meet notability guidelines. Over 2.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 186 million views on YouTube surpasses almost everyone within his primary genres, which means he meets #7 on WP:MN, but I would not be the right person to prove such a thing as I am no Lil Darkie expert which is why the article was so basic, it was intentionally basic. It is my belief moving it to draft is a detriment to the article, it reduces visibility, and I do not have any connections within Lil Darkie's community that could bring it forward. With citations, due to the odd lack of press coverage, most likely due to the fact he does not have a manager, everything stated in the article could be found on his social media or artist pages. However, it is all buried under a mountain of such facts being well accepted by the community, this comes to such an extent it is beyond my time and ability to find a source for all that information, and as such it would be something I would have to pass the torch for. Citations obviously are needed, however I do not understand why that is worthy of a full move to a draft page instead of a simply citation needed tag.
- I do not understand how I would prove notability within the article, nor have I found any evidence that I even really need to do that? Any clarification on that aspect would help, thanks. BruhtatoChips (talk) 01:07, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- As a WP:BLP it is required, like every other article, to have sources. If you can find some sourcing to back up MUSICBIO #7, and/or #GNG please add them to the article. Creating an article that needs
{{citation needed}}
isn't ideal. Draft is the place for that and when ready can move to mainspace. And when it comes to BLPs BLPPROD will be used for newly created articles rather than{{citation needed}}
/{{BLP sources}}
. Whatever the reason for the lack of them, if there is a lack of press coverage, it might be a reflection on his notability. You do not have to find sources for everything about him, only the stuff that is in article. There is no dead line, so if you can't work on the draft now, it can get sourced later. - In regards to showing notability in article, just having sources to pass WP:GNG is enough. Even before sources, all the article said was he was an artist, he founded some groups, and mentioned his genres. He could of been a candidate for WP:CSD#A7 current version of article. You said he has millions of monthly listeners on Spotify, mentioning that would show his significance as on first glance, before googling, I didn't even see any. This would still need to be sourced to a reliable source. Showing things that show how he passes MUSICBIO #7 would help as well. Showing significance in article prevents speedy deletion, notability can be shown in article or through RS whether they are listed in article or not. WP:BLPs need sources regardless, and even if you can put just put one in article, it wouldn't be deleted without a deletion discussion. WikiVirusC(talk) 01:58, 14 June 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for the respectful response and I do understand more fully the reasons for a draft move now and this allows me to more accurately and confidently make moves to create a more fuller article so thank you, I would've remained lost without the detail you put in this response.
