Jennifer Lopez
[edit]Please see this discussion for the reasons why Lopez's album sales are left at 25 million - maximum. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 15:25, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- When her OWN record label say 25 million SOLD (bare in mind some certifications only count shipments) there is no reason to assume more. Why would any record label say that an artist sold less then they actually did? Most of the sources you've provided are unreliable. Only Rolling Stone and Time are reliable. Whereas Contactmusic and her record label are reliable. If you are unsatisfied discuss it on the talk page. I'm remaining firmly OUT of this discussion. I am merely implementing what was decided on her talk page. Bring it up there. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 23:53, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- I personally am not involving myself anymore in this discussion. I said that on the talk page. If you got to Talk:Jennifer Lopez you'll clearly see that the full cases have been laid out for the reasons why 50m is unrealistic. Bring it up there. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:19, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Jennifer Lopez - Sales revisited.
[edit]Ok, first of all I owe you a bit of an apology. I'm sorry my attitude has not really been helpful. So I'm going to take this opportunity to show the case for why JLO's sales cannot be 50m albums.
- Factual method
- According to my calculation RIAA puts Lopez's US certified album sales at around 8 million. [1].
- Her British Certified sales come to around 1.16 million. [2]
- Considering that those are her two largest markets (and the first and third biggest music markets in the world), and that the majority of sales by artists are certified, that puts Lopez's combined UK and US sales for albums at around 9.16 million based on the biggest music market in the word and the third biggest market it is statistically impossible for the rest of the world to have generated 40.84 million album. To put this in context... it would mean that the UK and US only account for 18.32% of Lopez's album sales and the rest of the world account for 81.68%. Are you still convinced a claim of 50 million album sales is credible?
- Sourcing method
- In case you weren't convinced by the facts above (the sources were provided). Our credible sources state the following
- Reutures (news and press agency) - 17 million sold. [3]
- ContactMusic - 25 Million sold. before the release of Brave. [4]
- The Mirror (although a Tabloid the article is very factual) - 25 million sold [5]
- Sony Music (Lopez's old record label) - 25 million sold [6].
Now are you convinced? -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 23:06, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
Lets revist JLo sales - please no more!
[edit]- You appear to be under the illusion that Fox would have not gain anything by reporting that she sold 55 million records (albums + singles) worldwide. At the end of the day Sony Music reported in 2005-06 that Lopez sold 25 million records. There's no way that in the last year she's sold another 20m + records.
- None of the new sources you're providing have any credibility with reporting sales.
- What makes you think any of those sources are reliable?
- Finally I am not the authority on Jennife Lopez's sales. Its really nothing to do with me, I edit the page invariably. Bring the issue up at Talk: Jennifer Lopez.
- OR if you genuinly think all of that is notable... notify someone at Talk: Jennifer Lopez and THEN post the issue on WP:Content Noticeboard.
- Be please let it be noted... if you continue to try and add the information against consensus and reason it will be reverted and you may find you're self in trouble with administators which could lead to block/ban. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 18:23, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
