Information icon Hello, I'm Doniago. I noticed that you left an edit summary for the page Biloxi Blues (film) that didn't seem very civil. Wikipedia is built on collaboration, so it's one of our core principles to interact with one another in a polite and respectful manner. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Your edits may or may not be for the best, but per WP:BRD, when edits you've made have been reverted, it is best to start a discussion at the article's Talk page to obtain a consensus rather than simply trying to re-insert your edits. DonIago (talk) 19:34, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize. I don’t know how to best proceed. I corrected false information on a page but another editor continues to change it back to inaccurate information. Please advise. Thank you! BuffyCostanza (talk) 19:41, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Like I said, your best option would be to start a discussion at Talk:Biloxi Blues (film). That way, other editors interested in improving the article can also weigh in. You may not get the answer you want, but at least you'll know that there's more than one editor who has concerns. If you don't get your desired outcome there, there's other options discussed at WP:DR. Cheers! DonIago (talk) 19:48, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you do about someone posting inaccurate content? BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:01, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I’m not familiar with a Talk discussion or how to start one?? BuffyCostanza (talk) 19:59, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Biloxi Blues (film) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
You have already violated the three-revert rule, so this is your final warning. There are links here to show you how and where to talk about this issue calmly without making personal attacks. Stop reverting and start discussing. Katietalk 20:11, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the heads up. Respectfully, May I ask why is inaccurate content being allowed by Billmckern? He reverted my edits three times in the last 24 hours too. Does he get a warning? Seems like someone should verify his posts as well. He stated the movie script supports his edits, but I watched the final movie before posting. BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:22, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And I believe I did start a discussion. Isn’t that what the Talk discussion is? BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:23, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't start a discussion where I suggested you do so, though another editor started one for you. And you again tried to reinsert your content when I tried to make it clear that you should stop doing so until there's agreement in favor of your edits. You would be well-advised to heed Katie's warning that you may be blocked from editing if you try to insert your edits without consensus again. DonIago (talk) 20:31, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I thought I did start a Talk discussion. I clicked on the blue link that was highlighted in your earlier message. BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:38, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I also asked you earlier how to start one. Like I said, I went ahead and clicked on the blue highlighted Talk button in your post, to start one, as you suggested. I don’t know why it didn’t work? BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:43, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If literally all you did was click on the link, that's just a link to the Talk page, that's not the initiation of a discussion. But the discussion is now occurring, which is ultimately what's important. DonIago (talk) 20:48, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I did more than just click on it. I titled it Biloxi Blues (1988 film) plot. BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:50, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You could have helped direct me when I asked for help too. BuffyCostanza (talk) 20:54, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't mind some unsolicited advice, I recommend revising your response to Bill to focus more on the content. From the tone, it sounds combative, and it can make discussion difficult. Like I suggested, try to focus on the most obviously incorrect detail and reach agreement about that. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 00:13, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I do appreciate the advice. Am I allowed to revise my post? I do not want to edit the wrong thing and be guilty of violating the no-revert rule. (This site isn’t exactly user-friendly.) BuffyCostanza (talk) 00:30, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
