Welcome!

Hello, CSAE, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

A tag has been placed on Canadian Society of Association Executives requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Crusio (talk) 18:40, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Deb, You can sign your comments automatically using four tildes ~~~~.

The article as it stands is non-encyclopaedic and promotional in tone. Examples of text without independent verifiable sources in just the first paragraph

  • (CSAE) is many things to many people – a source of information, education, inspiration and motivation to name just a few.
  • Considered by many as Canada's "association of associations,"
  • of the men and women who manage many of this country's most progressive associations, (should say Canada anyway, not "this country" from where I am

also

  • remarkable tradition of service.

It did not provide independent verifiable sources that it meets the notability guidelines. All the links appeared to be to CSAE sites jimfbleak (talk) 15:22, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also the text is a copyright violation of this site, which does not say that it is available under the GFDL licence or is public domain. You must not post copyright material. If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article's talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at the talk page with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article talk page.
  • Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at the article talk page with a link to the web page details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement, spam or notability concerns. jimfbleak (talk) 15:28, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're probably best to start from scratch. It avoids copyright problems, and editing the original text often comes out as still promotional. You need something to establish notability to. In terms of the existing resources, link to the book store looks spammy, as does TM. I'd just put the main page, people can access the purchases from there if they need to. If you create the article in a sandbox and let me know when you're ready, I'll take a look at it. (not compulsory, up to you) jimfbleak (talk) 17:32, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If you add this old news item with the reference, that seems an obvious indicator that it is of at least national significance jimfbleak (talk) 17:49, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
