January 2019[edit]

Hello, I'm Flooded with them hundreds. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Cool Spot seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Flooded with them hundreds (talk) 15:01, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cool Spot[edit]

Nice to know that you love the game as much as I do (Sega Genesis/Megadrive) but your edits are not really constructive for an encyclopedia. Please refrain from this kind of edits, they will block your account. Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:08, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah... I suppose you're right. Thanks for letting me know, and I'll make sure not to do it again. Cameron-bretz (talk) 16:16, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I won't do anything to get you banned, I'm more active on the Dutch Wiki. I'm just excited to find another fan of the game! Ever heard of Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure by any chance? Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:18, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Oxygene7-13: I feel a little bit guilty saying this, but I have never heard of it. It looks fun, exactly like the type of game I would enjoy. I'll be sure to give it a try. Cameron-bretz (talk) 16:27, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You should be able to find it on an (illegal) freeware-site, I guess... Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:34, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
On what system did you play Cool Spot? Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:36, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
About a year ago I found a copy for snes. From what I know there is a genesis/mega drive version and apparently a game boy version. Cameron-bretz (talk) 16:41, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Myself I played it on the Sega. Is that Megadrive or Genesis where you're from? Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:44, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I believe it was the Genesis. What are the differences between the versions, if there are any? Cameron-bretz (talk) 16:46, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

So, American, ey? I'm from the Netherlands. I'm not aware of any major differences but you were right when you said that it plays very smooth, It is one of my favorite side-scrollers. (nothing beats Cosmo) Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:50, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian, actually. I looked into it a little and it appears that the UI is a little different. Also the SNES version is a little brighter. It's probably one of my favorites too. It surprised me with its quality, especially with many mascot games being either sub-par or terrible. Cameron-bretz (talk) 16:57, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, usually nothing got crappier than franchise-games. One thing about Cosmo, it is easy, very easy. Fits my style though, I'm a casual gamer. (sorry for calling you American, doesn't get more insulting than that, I guess...)Oxygene7-13 (talk) 17:08, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine, when I hear Genesis I think of america too. Good to know the game isn't soul-crushingly hard. I am also a casual gamer, execpt when it comes to Tetris on NES. That game I am hardcore at.
Try Squares deluxe, it's like a far cousin of tetris where your bricks can have any shape that fits in a 3x3 grid. You can move them freely around the screen to try to make them connect to a 3x3 shape that will disappear. If you're no longer able to leave the starting point (bottom left) because you've filled the screen with too many not connecting bricks or just blocked you way to the screen it's game over. Absolutely my most addictive game ever! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 17:23, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Looks fun! I'll have to give it a shot, as well as with Cosmo. Now I have a game to recommend to you (incidentally involving Cool Spot). It is called Spot: The Video Game. From what I know, it came you on NES and Gameboy. You try to cover the 7x7 board with as many of your "spots" as possible while absorbing your opponents spots. It sounds weird, but is rather fun, and can be played with a computer or a friend. Here is the wikipedia link for it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spot:_The_Video_Game Cameron-bretz (talk) 17:31, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Good that there is a release for DOS, I do not own an Nintendo, so... Thnx for pointing out, I'll give it a try! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 18:07, 26 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
How's life? Oxygene7-13 (talk) 18:52, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Pretty good. How are you doing? Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:10, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Fighting baddies on the Dutch Wiki... Oxygene7-13 (talk) 19:11, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
May I ask what exactly these baddies are doing? Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:13, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of dumb and useless swearing and name-calling. Yesterday I had one that had put an entire phone-number in an article... Oxygene7-13 (talk) 19:15, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jeezus. Sounds intense. Good luck managing it: I wish you luck. Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:19, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Also, as a side note, did you manage to check out the cool spot game? (the one for DOS). Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:20, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(after edit-conflict) I started with this just to have a laugh. At a certain point I thought, I might as well remove it after I read it, now I'm a fullblown rollbacker with all the rights that come with it! ...and no, not yet. Oxygene7-13 (talk) 19:23, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I tried a little of the cosmo game that you recommended. It is rather fun! I haven't tried squares deluxe yet, but by a sheer coincidence I have a friend who has an old DOS copy of the game, and is willing to trade it to me for another old piece of software. Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:29, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Glad to hear you like it! There are not many games I have played as much (or long) as Cosmo. It came along with the Adlib soundcard that came along with our 486SX computer... Loooong time ago, still playing it, once in a while. Oxygene7-13 (talk) 19:31, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

At the moment I have a small mini project where I am trying to install Windows 95 onto an old computer and also fix up said computer. I know it's pretty easy to emulate windows 95 using things like DOSbox, but the main reason I want it is for scorched earth, so I can change the dialogue for the setting of talking tanks Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:38, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I changed the audio files for Carmageddon once so it would, instead of a crash, curse at the other drivers..! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 19:41, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That is funny! I have a friend who plays a lot of newer PC games, and they once made a mod for terraria that replaced all the sounds in the game to Ness saying OK from Smash Bros. The worst part is he tricked me into playing the game with said mod installed. Cameron-bretz (talk) 19:49, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I guess you had a laugh at first but after a while it gets pretty annoying, I think... I heard of a bug in the game Civilisation once, that if you'd play Ghandi, the character with the most points for being a good guy (obviously) and after that score went one point higher, the number went from 99 "up" to 00... Turned him into, justabout, Satan himself! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 19:54, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've never heard of that bug before, but it sounds humorous. I'm just imagining a very evil Ghandi, which sounds pretty funny. I'll have to check it out. Cameron-bretz (talk) 20:00, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It is actually mentioned on Wikipedia, click this. Oxygene7-13 (talk) 20:05, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I found an image of ghandi being evil here Cameron-bretz (talk) 20:08, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The computer I'm at right now is limited by a "white-list"... I'll have to check it out later. Oxygene7-13 (talk) 20:10, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Gotta go, I'll talk to you another time. Laterzzz! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 20:23, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You dead?[edit]

You're no longer on Wiki? If you'd like to have a chat about oldschool gaming once in a while, just look me up! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:32, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I have been pretty busy lately and had no time to chat. However, I have time now, and I have something I think you would enjoy. It's an old chiptune from the nes days, and it's pretty impressive. Check it out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypNPxwnppU0 Cameron-bretz (talk) 22:47, 17 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No need to be sorry, I understand you have a life! Already knew this one, but thnx! If you're familiar with DooM, there is an actual metal-version of the soundtrack played by an highly professional band... The game's soundtrack has never sounded so awesome!!! Go look it up, I love it! Oxygene7-13 (talk) 16:48, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the recommendation. It's really cool! I've never been a huge fan of Doom, but I'll occasionally play it. It's a little funny, as the first version of doom I've ever played was the jaguar version, which had no music whatsoever. Cameron-bretz (talk) 01:35, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
