Typo on your userpage

I fixed a typo on your userpage, hope that is OK. I also answered here. Have a nice day, Polygnotus (talk) 09:02, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

You should bookmark this link. It is a list of most recently active administrators. Polygnotus (talk) 10:30, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you. So if I need to contact an administrator in the future, I could just leave a message on one of their user talk pages? CanonNi (talk) 10:32, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Yep. They can help solve most problems. If there is a wider discussion/more eyes required you could post to WP:ANI. Polygnotus (talk) 10:35, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
Ok. Thank you so much! CanonNi (talk) 10:36, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

Regarding your recent edit summary on SAS

Your recent edit summary claims that that reference is 'generally unreliable' without elaborating on why. I am relatively new to Wikipedia and don't know much on this subject, and failed to see where the problem is. I wish you could elaborate on what made you say so. Hym3242 (talk) 15:09, 21 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for pointing the problem out. It was my mistake, as I blindly removed the source as it was marked by the unreliable script as "generally unreliable". I've reverted my edit. Thank you for asking! CanonNi (talk) 01:00, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

Warning removal

Hello, saw that you were reinstating warnings on User talk:Snap-OnToolGuy that the editor had removed. Not sure if you already knew this, but editors can remove notices like those from their talk page, per WP:BLANKING. Cheers. Lynch44 (talk) 02:33, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me. I didn't know about it prior, and I'm sorry for my careless mistake. CanonNi (talk) 02:35, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Untitled (seperated from previous section)

Did you silly person Tones are in the days (talk) 04:27, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

Could you clarify what you're trying to say? CanonNi (talk) 04:27, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

@Dinkar 108 involved in Edit war in different articles.

Hey @CanonNi This is to inform you that user @Dinkar 108 whose edit you just reverted on the basis of WP:UCR is involved in an edit war and is doing same king od content removal from different articles. Just look at his contribution in Paliwal Sanadhya Brahmin , Saryupareen Brahmin and Hemu. He is probably a sockpuppet of @Hemraj108. Mahishya (talk) 09:27, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for informing me. CanonNi (talk) 09:28, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Now when he is warned about getting blocked, he is doing it with his sockpuppet @ajju109. Check the pattern of his edits on Brahmin Sanadhya Brahmin Paliwal . He is a confirmed sockpuppet made for the purpose of vandalising wikipedia articles. Mahishya (talk) 10:15, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. I have reported the account here. CanonNi (talk) 10:19, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. I appreciate your work. Mahishya (talk) 10:27, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
No problem! Again, thank you for informing me. CanonNi (talk) 10:28, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
This guy himself is sockpuppet of @Andy Murray and using my name with other user claiming me a sockpuppet. Just check @Andy murrey & @Mahishya edits both are same one account joined wiki today for vandalism and other joined 4 days ago for complanied. Ajju109 (talk) 10:53, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
Please stop edit warring. If you believe he is a sockpuppet, you may report him at WP:SPI. CanonNi (talk) 10:56, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
I never indulge in edit war and I am just reverting his vandalization. And I don't know how to report. Ajju109 (talk) 11:37, 26 March 2024 (UTC)
@Ajju109 You have been warned by @NoobThreePointOh to not to remove any content and you made another account without caring for wikipedia rules and still vandalising different articles without any explanation. If that's not the edit war, i don't know what is. Its a clear edit war from your side while trying to manipulate the admins. Mahishya (talk) 12:10, 26 March 2024 (UTC)

Go read that instead of adding back in meaningless "this song has appeared in [some random place]" platitudes. 184.162.200.211 (talk) 03:06, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Just because you believe certain parts should not be included is no reason to blank the entire section. If you believe they should be removed, please discuss on the talk page. CanonNi (talk) 03:12, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
If you feel there's any of those that is more than the trivial "This song appeared in X" (as are almost all of the examples) or similar "Song was recorded by X" or "X other song uses the same melody", you're free to go and look for sources to back it up. As it stands, the page you linked to also gives plenty of "reasons for content removal", including "unsourced information" and "irrelevant information". So no, I don't believe "certain parts should not be included", but rather the "the whole of the affected section should not be included", which is why I consequently removed the entire section. 184.162.200.211 (talk) 03:25, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
WP:UCR states that, "There are various reasons for removing content from an article. Regardless of the reason, it should be described in the edit summary. If there is any doubt the removal may be controversial, or if it has been restored following a previous removal, it should be discussed on the page's talk page prior to removal." Please start a discussion on the talk page if you wish to remove the section again. CanonNi (talk) 03:27, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
"it should be described in the edit summary" - you not reading mine is not a me problem. The long list in the British Grenadiers article is the archetypical example (something Wikipedia has such a bad rap for, it's even a well known fact of internet culture, i.e. the mention on xkcd) of bad (and almost entirely unsourced) "in popular culture" content. As I said elsewhere, songs being sung is pretty much par for the course and including every instance of it would be very indiscriminate and irrelevant. 184.162.200.211 (talk) 03:36, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Minor notification

What's up, CanonNi? Just letting you that after signing a fellow editor's guestbook here, you forgot to sign by adding 4 tildes which produces your signature and time in UTC. Realised it was probably a little error so I fixed it for you. See you around! Volten001 17:47, 29 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi @Volten001, thank you so much for fixing that! CanonNi (talk) 01:54, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
You're most welcome...👍👍💯 Have a great Easter weekend! - Volten001 02:49, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Why did you revert my glorious edit?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!!?!?!??!!!?!?!?!!?!?!?!!?!?!!!?!!?!!!? Diddykong69 (talk) 05:27, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Because it was vandalism. CanonNi (talk) 05:28, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for resubmitting. I have accepted the requests. In the future, please make sure the pages in the proposed categories exist. CanonNi (talk) 13:12, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

Thank you

Hello CanonNi, and thank you for your edits to combat the editor currently engaging in edit war in the Black Sea slave trade-article.
The editor Someone Qırımlı are currently engaging in persistent vandalism of the article. They edit the article both from anonymous IP-adresses, as well as from their account, which had barely been used for anything than for editing this article.
They erase and remove referenced information describing the slave trade of the Crimean Khanate, referring to everything descriging the slave trade as non neutral "Russian propaganda", and either erase the entire topic from the article, or replace it with content describing the slavery as benevolent.
I wonder if the article can be protected somehow, or if the user can be blocked from edititing it? They clearly violate the rules of bias, vandalism and edit warring, but as a contributor I mostly write, and and know less about what can be done in these situations. Perhaps you have more knowledge as how do adress this? I have limited time dealing with this (I am travelling soon). My best greetings--Aciram (talk) 13:13, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
PS: They now also appear to emply a sock puppet: AzaqQara. --Aciram (talk) 13:22, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi. Sorry but I will respond to your message later - it's getting late here where I live. Thanks. CanonNi (talk) 13:29, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
I understand. No worries at all: I may not be able to be that available myself for a while, since I am due to travel, but I thought I should at least direct the attention of a serious user to the problem. I suspect this is going to be a long term problem, unless the user is stopped. They have now attempted to start their own article about the issue, "The Crimean slave trade", to further their opinion. The article appears to be appologetic to slavery in the Crimea, which is perhaps not a suprise considering their non-neutral edit warring. I do hope the article is deleted. --Aciram (talk) 13:54, 2 April 2024 (UTC)
Hi, the user seems to have started a discussion on the article's talk page about his recent edits, which other editors, such as Wikishovel and Draken Bowser have opposed. In addition, the editor in question has been seriously warned for his actions, as Draken Bowser says, "Again, you need to argue the source material and display a fundamental understanding of our rules. This is a difficult topic and needs to be discussed calmly. You need to collect your thoughts and slow down your posting or I will have to request that you be blocked to calm things down." So if the user continues changing content to his preferences, he might be blocked for vandalism and/or editwarring.
Thanks for reaching out to me, and I really appreciate your efforts in combating vandalism and protecting Wikipedia. Again, Thank you! CanonNi (talk) 00:31, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
