This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of McNeil (surname), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: McNeil. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Regarding your proposed move as stated above, if the proposal is successful, the article Clan Stewart will prevent the move as it is already present. As I see you are both the creator and only substantial contributor, you may want to tag it with {{db-author}} to have it speedy deleted. Thanks. JPG-GR (talk) 07:05, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK thanks. I'll tag it now then. We only need one article, despite the spelling.--Celtus (talk) 07:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RE: Speedy deletion of Image:Clan Ramsay (Tartans).png[edit]

Uploader has pulled similar stunts before - taking similar media from websites.

Stunts? Fuck you. All images came from the Clan Ramsay Association of North America Adraeus (talk) 03:26, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly.--Celtus (talk) 03:59, 2 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:428sqn.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:428sqn.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:24, 3 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clan Crest Badge[edit]

Hello, I've been on holiday so have not been keeping up with events re the crest images. I noticed you have been adding a few images here and there. Did you come to a decision on the copyright issue? Yours, Czar Brodie (talk) 10:27, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Czar, hope the holiday went well. I just decided to work on trying to make badges myself. I tracked down a few more blazons and have a list (List of crest badges used by Scottish clan members‎). Though i've only really got around to attempting the least complex ones so far. I'm not very artistic. For the actual crests in the badges i've used a combination of content from the Wiki Commons (there's quite alot of heraldry there [1]) and out-of-copyright 'family crest' books found on googlebooks and archive.org.--Celtus (talk) 10:48, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

vincere vel mori

Hey Celtus. I'm still pretty new to all this stuff. I was wondering, how do you make the black and white clan badges? The one you posted for Clan MacNeil was great, and I'm trying to find one for the Clan MacNeil of Gigha/Colonsay but I cant seem to find one anywhere. Thanks.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Georgiamed (talkcontribs) 14 August 2008

Hi Georgiamed. To make the badges i made up my own plain badge image in photoshop and inkscape. From there i just look for the right crest (or a crest that i can edit to be follow the blazon) on the Wikimedia Commons. Then the motto around it.
I haven't seen the blazon of the McNeill of Colonsay crest, but i followed the crest badge pictured in Adam, Frank; Innes of Learney, Thomas (1970). The Clans, Septs & Regiments of the Scottish Highlands (8th edition ed.). Edinburgh: Johnston and Bacon. {{cite book}}: |edition= has extra text (help)CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link) p. 487. The crest badge in the book is different than the silver image that the other user made. He's got the MacNeil of Barra motto on it. The McNeill of Colonsay motto i think should be vincere vel mori, thats how it is in the book anways.--Celtus (talk) 09:07, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
