April 2009[edit]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:FAQ/Organization and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and forbidden by policies, and also violates our username policy.

However, if you feel that there has been a mistake in your blocking, please appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below or email the administrator who blocked you. Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Please check that your new username has not already been taken by checking this list. Nja247 11:24, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I just wanted to provide some information on CeramTec as on of the largest manufacturers worldwide of this special materials and components, from neutral point of view. No promotion or spamming purposes were intended. I used the template Template:Company and thougt, that I've followed the rules. Our entry in the german version was discussed too but passed all requirements after some adjustments. The english version is just a copy. So please advise me, which parts of the article could be misapprehend as advertisment/promotion. As for the username: yes, it is my account here at the company, and also no offense of the rules was intended. It should just point-out, that it is a company-initiated article. So if I have to change it, please adopt it to: Steve_611873

Decline reason:

We don't allow people to write articles about themselves. Chillum 04:59, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Under the conflict of interest guidelines, we all agree to avoid writing about ourselves or our own businesses. If your company is truly notable, it is inevitable that someone outside the company will write a neutral article about it. Knowing that you won't be writing about this company, do you still want an account, so you can volunteer to help write the encyclopedia in other areas? What other areas do you think you'd like to write about? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:03, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

So I wonder, if articles like Kyocera or Ceradyne were not initiated by the companys themselves, only that they didn't made the mistake to use the company name as account name. Nethertheless, I would like to keep the account with a new account name. Possible areas to contribute would be e.g. the use of bioceramics in hip- or knee-joint replacements, material data of various technical ceramics, new applications with these materials in electronics, LED technology or the food industry. We do a lot of R&D in this fields here and I think, some of this could be very useful for wiki - in a neutral form. And I would still like to know, which parts of the CeramTec article are noticed as promotion? The history part? The stated key products and materials? What new account name would you like to use? Daniel Case (talk) 15:44, 17 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Above I asked for adopting it to "Steve_611873" already. CeramTec (talk) 07:05, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Let me chime in as an uninvolved editor and state that the only thing that exposes the COI is the username. The article is absolutely neutral. References would be nice, though, all entries must be verifiable. Drawn Some (talk) 22:26, 24 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
