Contributions to Executive agreement
[edit]Hi ChefBiblio, I wanted to let you know that I undid your edit to Executive agreement. The tone of your contribution was not encyclopedic. Expressions such as "were heading toe-to-toe with each other" are too informal/journalistic for Wikipedia. Other phrases that struck me as inappropriate were "Churchill on the brinks of becoming broken down," "in an act of near white flag" and "knowing he had Churchill respectfully cornered," among others. I know that in many classroom assignments, the goal is to have an "engaging" writing style. However, Wikipedia is meant to be written neutrally. When I read your contribution, I was reminded of the following style guide advice for Wikipedia—
Another error of writing approach is attempting to make bits of material "pop" (an undue weight problem), such as with excessive emphasis, over-capitalization, use of contractions, unnecessary acronyms and other abbreviations, the inclusion of hyperbolic adjectives and adverbs, or the use of unusual synonyms or loaded words. Just present the sourced information without embellishment, agenda, fanfare, cleverness, or conversational tone.
In future contributions, remember to write in a neutral way to simply convey the facts. Thanks, Elysia (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:29, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
