Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to 2012 in fiction, you will be blocked from editing. Dougweller (talk) 06:25, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mentioning a book, and conflict of interest[edit]

If you want to write about a book in an article, you'll need a reliable source (such as a newspaper article or review) that has written about the book and its relevance to the subject - it's more important to write about how a book is relevant, than to simply mention that it exists and to give a link to where you can buy it from.

If this is your own book, you should read Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy before editing any further. If you've just self-published your first novel and are trying to drum up interest and drive traffic to a sales site, Wikipedia is not the place to do that. --McGeddon (talk) 08:43, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's self-published. If it hits the NYT top 100, then it could be included, but we rarely include self-published books (or the various varieties of same), so I don't see how it can be included. Dougweller (talk) 09:41, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
