Edit warring

[edit]

Hi. It looks like you're in the midst of something of an edit war over at Jack the Ripper. I should caution you that there are strict limitations on how many times in one day someone (anyone, including yourself) can revert an article. That rule is described at WP:3RR, and is enforced by blocking anyone who breaks it. I'd recommend taking your discussion to the article's talk page. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 11:43, 5 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the warning. I'll keep it under three. I am new and still learning the rules but attempting to follow within established guidelines.

Personal Information

[edit]

Please do not post personal information about other editors that they do not choose to release here on wikipedia. Anonymity is valued by many wikipedians. --Martyman-(talk) 00:00, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

---I am wondering whether that applies when someone is an editor of a magazine and uses their Wikipedia identity to delete information about a rival publication under the cloak of anonymity?

He has admitted his identity fully on another website when this information came to light and therefore, the revelation of his identity was relevant to the discussion as it showed that edits were being carried out because of personal agenda and bias.

If the editor in question ahs made the conection between his real name and his wikipedia username on other websites it is arguably OK. I was just warning you not to continue on that line of attack as Wikipedia Blocking Policy alows admins to block editors for posting personal details. --Martyman-(talk) 00:17, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
