Hello, I'm EuroCarGT. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to Baltinglass GAA seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ///EuroCarGT 21:38, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Baltinglass GAA

[edit]

Hi. Just wanted to explain some of what has been happening on the Baltinglass GAA article.

You need to understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, it is not an extension of the club's website. This means it should be written neutrally without any unattributed opinions. The article shouldn't read like an advertisement for the club, or its fund-raising, or its games. It shouldn't express opinions about the club's successes or workrate. It should stick to facts.

A lot of what you've been adding appears to be written from the point of view of the club, or a supporter of the club. This means it isn't neutral, and also probably falls foul of conflict of interest guidelines. If you are involved with this club on some official basis than you shouldn't be editing this article. It's difficult to write entirely neutrally about something that you are personally involved with.

This article is also not yours, or the clubs. It is Wikipedia's. You cannot decide to remove it.

Hope this helps explain things. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 23:17, 24 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message. I didn't remove the content about the motto, however I can see why it was. The problem was not the facts, the problem was it was presented as a philosophical essay about what makes a good club player. It addresses the reader "you" and talks about the club "we". Wikipedia does not address the reader directly (it is not an instruction manual or guide) and is not the club Baltinglass GAA. It is also not the place for the motivational thoughts of the club's Senior Ladies Team Manager. If you could rephrase this content appropriately it might be ok.

If the content you added is a copy of copyrighted material it was a mistake for you to add it, and it should either be removed or reworded.

I removed the content about Baltinglass Hill and archaeological artifices simply because it wasn't clear how it was relevant to the club. This is more suited to the Baltinglass article.
