Moving pages...[edit]

Don't move pages just because your keyboard can't type French characters without discussing it first. And don't change links with such characters for the same reason. Redirects should be avoided. French names also constitute common use in many cases, including political parties such as the Bloc Québécois and universities such as Université du Québec à Montréal, and the name of actual people, except in rare exceptions (such as Celine Dion).--Boffob 22:57, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No one is compelled to write bio articles at Wikipedia and having red links for very important people is essential. Also, I just removed your "Weasel" notice you posted to the Quebec diaspora article. You put that in without stating it in your edit summary and never gave a reason why you reached this opinion on the Talk page that not only is appropriate, but common courtesy. I'm certain it wasn't your intention, but calling what seems like a clear and precise article with fully documented sources as "Weasel" could well be taken as an insult or the product of a specific motivation. I explained the change in the edit summary (just like I put a story tag on Ben's delicatessen article, because it has similar tone issues). Didn't get the time to say anything on the talk page, but thought the edit summary would be sufficient. My clear agenda is to uphold Wiki's policies of neutral point of view and quality standards. I get rid of red links and spam a lot, fix links that go through redirects and put up a number of cleanup tags. That one section of the Quebec diaspora article seems deliberately written to paint the English and Scot Quebecers as the only ones to contribute to the building and economic development of the province, and that they were unfairly driven out by FLQ terrorists and PQ government. I try not to get involved too much in political articles beyond putting tags, but I do believe this is a clear case of wrong tone because it waxes poetic about the history of a particular community. I put the story tag in the history section of Bens De Luxe Delicatessen & Restaurant for the exact same reason.--Boffob 00:06, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
