Speedy deletion of Tom Engelhardt

A tag has been placed on Tom Engelhardt requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Hi DBrnstn,

My apologies for the tagging of your article, but Wikipedia policy is fairly strict on copyright infringement, and it's best to get it off the site as soon as possible. That being said, I have no problems with there being an article on the subject--he certainly seems notable enough to me--and so I encourage you to recreate the article stating the information you've gathered on the subject in your own words.

I've responded to your comment on my talk page (I try to keep the conversations linked so they're easier to read through later).

On a separate note, when commenting on an editor's talk page I might suggest first taking a quick look through their contributions to get a rough idea of their general knowledge level and areas of involvement. There's actually a useful tool here that's makes this a little easier; it can also be found in the user tabs script, one of the Wikipedia user scripts. In my case, checking this tool would have told you that in my case "really active" means about a thousand edits a month, during which I hopefully would have moved beyond making beginner mistakes. Of course, this isn't always a guarantee, and users with 10,000 edits can make the same mistakes just as well as users with 10 edits, so I appreciate the concern regardless :) Thanks! --jonny-mt 14:58, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't want to repost the text on-wiki because it is a copyvio so I included it in the email. Alternatively, the email may have been blocked by a spam filter. Funding, Budget Process? How are NG expenditures decided?

The National Guard Defense Budget is approved via bill by Congress. Individual states do provide resources and funding to the NG in their states but the NG gets over 90% of their budget and expenditures from the federal government. Of course like all our tax dollars the government dictates where funding goes, and the NG and the states, like all other federal agencies, fight and lobby for a bigger share of the pie for themselves.

And lastly, states work with their NG Adjunct Generals to train NG personnel to fit the needs of the individual states but basic combat training is still provided by the Army and Air Force. Neovu79 (talk) 22:36, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
