Please come participate in the discussion at Talk:R. R. Virdi#Spacing in name. Thanks! ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 15:34, 12 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I know R.R. Virdi personally. I KNOW how his professional name is written. Multiple publishers, awards and recognitions have respected his wishes in his professional name. R.R.Virdi has repeatedly attempted to get this corrected ie his name no spaces yet total strangers believe they know better.

That you know him personally is irrelevant. You're welcome to participate in the discussion at Talk:R. R. Virdi#Spacing in name, but you need to base your comments in policies and guidelines, not on your personal knowledge. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 15:46, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My personal knowledge is that the professional name of R.R. Virdi has ZERO spaces in the first portion of his name. The fact that you seem to have a problem with professional names, one should question all edits made by you. Many professional names including author names, band names, and company names have intentional misspelling, stylization, and lack spacing.

Should you continue to add the space despite the author's personal input that you corrected, this will escalate. Thank you for midjudging the situation and using your personal thoughts to change R.R. Virdi's professional name. Bravo on your hubris. Daddotmom (talk) 15:59, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at R. R. Virdi shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. ···日本穣 · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WP Japan! 15:47, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
