Re: Why did you revert "died by" back to "committed"?

Word to the wise
[edit]Please read WP:NPA carefully. "Blah blah blah" does not qualify. If you accuse people of making personal attacks and they have not, that is a personal attack, and may be subject to sanctions. The common sense approach to this sort of thing: No one is ever going to be nicer to you if try to make the point that you think they're being rude, by being rude yourself. — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 21:36, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
PS: Just to be clear, I don't mean "I'm irritated with you and leaving a vague, menacing warning"; I don't really care about that conversation much. What I do mean is "crafty, long-term editors who know how to play the game are apt to steer angry, newer editors into WP:BOOMERANG situations, if they habitually make unsupportable 'personal attack' accusations; this is a trap to avoid, and it is best avoided by not giving them any ammo." — SMcCandlish ☺ ☏ ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ≼ 22:40, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
How to edit a infobox?

See this page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Oldbury_Nuclear_Power_Station There are two, different, counties: Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire. For clarity, South Gloucestershire is not the south part of Gloucestershire, it's separate and different. Oldbury is in South Gloucestershire. The infobox says "Location of Oldbury Nuclear Power Station in Gloucestershire" which is incorrect. How do I fix that? DanBCDanBC (talk) 15:14, 12 July 2016 (UTC)
- You've done the right thing by posting on the talk page about your concerns. The next step would be to edit the article itself and change the wording of the caption. If there is any debate/discussion about the location, it can be had below your original post on the talk page. Primefac (talk) 16:27, 12 July 2016 (UTC)

My question is about editing the info in a templated info box. The info box in the above listed article uses a map called "Gloucestershire". It then titles that map saying "Location of Oldbury Nuclear Power Station in Gloucestershire" -- the template incorrectly uses the name of the map to provide the location. The correct location is "South Gloucestershire". How do we edit the template so that it gives correct information about location? Editing the page is obviously not working. (User Primefac has misunderstood the question.) DanBCDanBC (talk) 16:48, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- Done This was happening because of this template parameter:
| location_map = Gloucestershire
, which pulls the map from {{Location map Gloucestershire}} and supplies the default caption you were seeing. I specified a custom, alternate caption, which overrides the default caption, by using the following parameter:| location_map_caption = Location of Oldbury Nuclear Power Station in South Gloucestershire

Your user page
[edit]I know where you're coming from. Recently I took an admin to task who had caused major disruption by a rangeblock affecting - probably - many thousands of users for a long period of time. It was a particularly dynamic range used by one of the biggest ISPs in the UK, and it was a large range that he'd blocked. However, he was having none of it. Something needs doing about this. These egregious blocks must turn away legions of potential new users. 31.52.163.160 (talk) 18:16, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- LOL! I just checked the range you mentioned and low and behold! It's still blocked after four years … and blocked by the same guy I refer to above. You couldn't make it up. 31.52.163.160 (talk) 18:25, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
