May 2007[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. Wikipedia has a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did to Keira Knightley, makes it harder to read. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. More specifically, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Opening paragraph PTSE 20:00, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

June 2007[edit]

Please do not use styles that are unusual or difficult to understand in articles, as you did to Andrew Moss. There is a Manual of Style that should be followed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Spellcast 11:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality[edit]

We use "British" instead of "English" on Wikipedia, as English is not a nationality. faithless (speak) 22:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not true. English/Scottish/Welsh are more widely used and accepted. Mass edits like yours are not encouraged without widespread support, which you do not have.--UpDown (talk) 21:55, 16 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flags in infoboxes[edit]

Hello there,

Simillar to the above message, please be mindful not to add flag icons to people's infoboxes. A policy exists here outlining this. Though "British" is used for nationality in infoboxes, if the place of birth is within the United Kingdom, it is convention to use only the home nation - the use of UK is redundant. Hope that helps! All the best! -- Jza84 · (talk) 21:55, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
