A tag has been placed on Blastoff Network, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. TheLetterM (talk) 20:21, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The language in this article is the same language the company used in a press-release issued last month. As we all know, Press Releases are meant to be factual and not an advertisement. I believe that this article should remain unchanged (minus future updates) because it is in the same tone and language as any press release. (Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 20:26, 17 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

I request a serious reconsideration of the restoration of this page. This article is about a new search engine that is due to be released this Monday. What needs to be done to make this article acceptable? (Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 20:29, 17 October 2009 (UTC))[reply]

October 2009[edit]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Blastoff Communications. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. Rd232 talk 22:45, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Blastoff Communications, you will be blocked from editing. MuffledThud (talk) 14:58, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop? You tell me what part of my article is promotional? This was taken from an official press release (and I have permission to do so). How is this promotion. Show me where I am going wrong instead of just telling me to "Stop". Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 15:01, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not promoting this page in the language. Please tell me how if I am and I would be happy to be corrected or make the necessary changes. The account creations are FREE and do not make the company anything at all.Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 15:05, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would recommend that you use a source other than a press release, if you don't want it to sound promotional. Please have a read of the links at the top of this page, such as "Your first article", and "How to write a great article". You might also have a read of WP:SPAM for particular advice on how not to make article read like advertising. Would you like me to move the article to your user sandbox, where you can ask other Wikipedians for advice as your draft progresses? MuffledThud (talk) 15:17, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes! that would be perfect! I didn't know there was a drafting section. That will be very helpful. Thank you Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 15:19, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am looking, but I don't see "My Sandbox" Please guide me as to where I need to go to find it. Thank you again. Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 15:25, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too late, it's gone. Just as well though, as I notice it was also in breach of copyright. The section on how to create a user subpage is at Wikipedia:User page#How to create a user subpage, but to get you going I've gone ahead and created you a stub at User:Devanhcrow1987/Blastoff Communications. If you edit that page, you'll see that I've commented out the category link at the bottom with a ":". When the article's finished and you copy that back to the main article space, you can remove that comment. If you have any more questions, you can ask me at my talk page, or for really expert help you can always use WP:HELP. MuffledThud (talk) 15:43, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is NOT a breach of copyright. WE own the company. We can't breach our own copy right! Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 16:36, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You also can't promote your own company. Period. --jpgordon::==( o ) 18:20, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Spam[edit]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. --jpgordon::==( o ) 15:35, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, we have a contract with 400 retailers and we are wanting to update the history for ourselves and for these retialers by adding HISTORY! Not spam or promotions. What are the steps to update an article without it being deleted before you have the chance to have it reviewed? Is someone willing to tell me instead of just deleteing my pages???? Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 16:41, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You could try using the "userspace draft" option of the Article Wizard, and ask for Feedback when you think it's ready. But really, you should probably just leave it, because I don't think your company meets Notability requirements. Rd232 talk 16:49, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think when Google is estimating 50 million new accounts during the first week, I think we have notability. Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 16:57, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't care if everyone on Earth has one. Prove it: verifiability to show notability. Rd232 talk 18:25, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I added a list of subsidiaries to the article Pre-Paid Legal Services. Please let me know if there is anything wrong with it before deleteing the article. Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 17:12, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Of course there's something wrong. You may not promote your own business. I assume you're the Devan Crow that is an independent associate at Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc.; as such, you have a conflict of interest that makes it pretty much impossible for you to edit articles about your company with the required neutral point of view. --jpgordon::==( o ) 18:25, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you would prefer people who know nothing about the company to update your articles. You really should appreciate the help someone is trying to be by offering accurate information about one of the companies discussed on your site rather than badmouth someone and reject the non-promotional content suplied by someone simply because that person happens to work for the company. If you stop and think about it, unless someone knows something about the article that they are contributing to, it seems to me that they would be the ones that you would question their validity. Can you explain to me what ADRS stands for? Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 01:19, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jpgordon: Do me a favor and tell me what words in the sections "Subsidiaries" that I added today is promotional or spam. Also tell me what part of this section is not neutral. What is there to debate about the subsidiaries a company has? The subsidiaries of a company is fact, not a advertisement Devanhcrow1987 (talk) 01:25, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

And your inability to recognize the problem is exactly why the community generally does not allow people to edit articles about their own businesses. --jpgordon::==( o ) 17:54, 19 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
