Pagers and boobytraps

[edit]

We, as non extended confirmed users, can't edit in that article, nor any other article that requires ECR. You weren't allowed to discuss anything either, besides asking for edit requests.

But I also wanted to point out that, in the source you quoted, it states:

"2. "Booby-trap" means any device or material which is designed, constructed or adapted to kill or injure and which functions unexpectedly when a person disturbs or approaches an apparently harmless object or performs an apparently safe act."

Please, revert your edit. My bad, I thought you had edited the article. Still, we're not allowed to discuss in that talk page. Gue101 (talk) 16:52, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can locate nothing in Wikipedia's policies which prohibits non-EC users from editing talk pages on ECP articles. Edit restrictions are generally enforced automatically; on the article page, there is simply no edit link.
The bit you quote simply establishes that the pagers were a booby trap, which is not in dispute; not all booby traps are prohibited by the protocol. Note though that there has been another exchange on the talk page, and there appears to be a discrepancy between apparently-authoritative sources as to the text of the protocol. I can't account for this and neither so far has anyone else. Dfranke (talk) 17:26, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Check WP:ARBECR:
"Non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace only to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided they are not disruptive." (emphasis mine). Gue101 (talk) 17:39, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
