Challenge[edit]

No need demonstrated for the Link, Spur and Recreation Road shields; in fact the list, which is the only article to use them, didn't use them until a switch was removed by this editor in the {{jct}} subtemplates. No consensus was demonstrated that they needed to have shields in the list article previous to their creation. Imzadi 1979  05:54, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Most list articles usually have shields to accompany them, see the county route lists in New Jersey. Also, several junction lists use the shields as well. Dough4872 14:07, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But that doesn't demonstrate need. Consensus has been that they haven't been needed. You can probably guess which way I am leaning, but I will wait for more discussion to decide. –Fredddie 17:36, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't decided either way on this just yet. Until then, I won't add any points. –Fredddie 04:39, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Challenge accepted. I was hoping for more discussion on this, but it wasn't to be. As I see it, this twice goes against the spirit of the first rule on shields, that is, "Editors must demonstrate there was a need for a shield to be created, that is, you cannot simply make a batch of county road shields, dump them into a category on Commons, and score big points." First, consensus was that the shields were not needed, which is why they had yet to be made. That consensus is moot now that they are created. Second, while they're not county road shields, this was the type of category dump I was trying to avoid. No points. –Fredddie 02:27, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
