Hello Vanamode,
As you may remember earlier on October 16th, 2023, between 7:50 & 8:18 AM CST, vandalism occurred on the article regarding the racial slur known as nigger. Let the record show that although as a Black man it may be socially acceptable to say the word, I do not condone its use. It was used to degrade Black people throughout history and although it may appear as simply six words, those six words placed in that order can affect somebody.
Between 7:50 & 8:18 AM CST, I was at school with my friends having breakfast. I was looking at Wikipedia and decided to search up the article of which the vandalism happened, and I wanted to make a small change to the article's description; from 'A racial slur against Black people' to 'A racial slur against people of African descent around the world.' I then left to use the restroom. Keep in mind this was all on mobile, so I had the tab open to edit the article description. On principle, I did not bring my phone to the restroom with me as to not get germs on it. However, I was in such a hurry I didn't even think about putting it somewhere safe.
One of my friends, ( we'll call him John ) had ( as I presume ) typed in what was typed in and waited for me to come back. He and his friends were laughing as he told me what he had done. I immediately scrambled to revert the decision. I slapped John in back of the head as he left. People tend to find things like this hilarious, but I, as quoted my one of my friends, am more mature. I am interested in politics and want to serve my country because it gave my family freedom, civil rights & voting rights. I feel that I can pay them back by fighting for them.
I understand you may not believe me, but I make a plea for you to hear me out. Please consider removing my editing block on Wikipedia articles. I consider it a priveledge to be able to edit articles on such a widely used website like this. I enjoy writing essays, and some may call me a nerd for it.
My sincere apologies; I forgot to mention why this will never happen again -
An incident like this will never happen again because I will always leave my phone on me because clearly, my friends cannot be trusted with something like a phone. I will also make sure to get whatever I need done as soon as possible so that whenever I need to go somewhere, I wouldn't need to worry about it immediately.
I will now always keep my guard high whenever my jokester friends are around so that this doesn't happen again. I will go as far as to not even bring my phone to school for the time being. This was a terrible incident, and I am sorry to you and I pray to God that he sends my apologies to all of the people who needed to endure segregation, slavery & discrimination who are now resting peacefully in the Kingdom of Heaven. I also apologize to the Lord.
Thank you,

Thank you. Kindness like yours is what the world needs more of. DowntownCode (talk) 23:33, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you've not done so already, and assuming your good faith; I hope you reprimand "John" appropriately and explain clearly that there is absolutely nothing funny about what they wrote. Fred Gandt · talk · contribs 02:26, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
