Your edits to Massively multiplayer online role-playing game
[edit]I reverted your edits to Massively multiplayer online role-playing game and I wanted to go over my reasons with you.
- Most were due to lack of references, especially when you write about minute details or commonality between games. That some games include different races is fine because it's a relatively uncontroversial statement, but claiming that a "widely used" theme of races warring with each other is both vague and a bold statement that requires a citation from an expert in the field. Another example is moving from the existence of GMs to their specific powers, which can vary from game to game. In short, the article is about generalities, and when we go into specifics we need references.
- You duplicated several points, such as discussing a "cash shop" when the previous sentence mentioned the "purchase of in-game items for real-world currency", again a general statement.
- All of your sources were unreliable for the claims made. Check out WP:RS for information about reliable sources in general, or Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources for the sources that WikiProject Video games prefers to use.
- There were numerous spelling and grammatical mistakes. Now this isn't typically a problem, but keep in mind that other editors will have to clean up after you, and that's not always fun. You may want to take a look at our manual of style.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Cheers! Woodroar (talk) 17:16, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
- This should be discussed on the article talk page. Talk:Massively multiplayer online role-playing game Some edits may have been valid, others not. Dream Focus 10:10, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- Dreamstar1 is a new editor and may not know to check the article Talk page, so I felt like explaining my rationale directly. Besides, not every change must or should be discussed on Talk. Cheers! Woodroar (talk) 16:17, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- This is quite discouraging to see that based on a few invalid edits, you would rather remove all the edits/contribution i made to the mmorpg wikipage. I can see why this page has so less information compared to other wiki pages, even though mmorpg is one of the most popular topic. Dreamstar1 (talk) 23:07, 17 February 2013 (UTC)
- MMOs and other online games are still relatively new and there aren't as many reliable sources covering them, at least compared to video games in general, let alone more traditional games. It's important to remember that we're not here to write articles based on what we think, but to document what reliable sources have to say. Luckily, there's no time limit on the encyclopedia so we'll get there in time. Cheers! Woodroar (talk) 05:59, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
