Welcome!

Hello, Dunott, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Let me suggest that you slow down your addition of external links to your webshots pages, and perhaps do some work on the text of some entries. Better still, if you are willing, would be to upload to Wikipedia some of your images-- make sure they're not copyright eligible-- anything published before 1923 should be OK.

The reason for my suggestions is that there are a number of editors here who are on the lookout for spam, and an editor who comes along and adds nothing but external links to a single website is a classic spammer pattern. If someone sees that pattern, they're likely to simply delete all of your links on sight. (I know, because I have been that sort of editor in the past; Wikipedia gets spammed a lot, and if you devote yourself to getting rid of it, it can make you crazed.) If that does happen, don't just restore the links-- leave me a message on my talk page, and I'll see what I can do.

Nice collection, by the way-- looks like you're an Adirondacker. I'm from Saranac Lake. Hope you enjoy working here-- the Adirondack articles could use a lot of work, especially the northeast corner where your collection appears to be centered. And don't hesitate to ask for help-- there's a lot to learn here when you get started. Cheers! -- Mwanner | Talk 12:14, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Further to this, yes, despite the nice collection of images unfortunately the links have been removed as we generally do not just link to external photo sites. The better approach would be to select images and upload them to the Commons image collection; that would greatly increase the chance of your images staying in the articles. If you like, I can help point you in the right direction. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about this. Cheers. --Ckatzchatspy 18:07, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia.
