Thanks for alerting me to the policies mentioned below. I consider them all to be very sound and proper. The idea of starting a page on the trade union was not with the intention of self-promotion, but only to put some information out there to create a starting point for other users of Wikipedia to improve (as has already happened since). It is quite difficult to find unbiased sources for the material other than Solidarity itself, as even most media reports about the union are closely based on the union's own press releases. The fact that a new campus of Sol-Tech was opened, for example, is only verifiable from within Solidarity itself, or by physically going to the building itself. Nevertheless, it is a fact. I would like to post a comment on the discussion page stating that I am fully aware that, while I might do my utmost to avoid self-promotion, it may sometimes be unavoidable and that anyone is welcome to edit or even remove any of my contributions if they have reason to believe that the content is unsuitable for Wikipedia. After studying the guidelines more carefully, there are a few changes I'd like to make myself which would bring the article closer to NPOV already.

Welcome!

Hello, EendrachtUnie, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

I've never been a Solidarity member or involved with it in any way but I witnessed Solidarity's days of glory, struggle and fight for democracy in Poland.

I think good verifiable sources are essential for any article but of course even more important is NPOV (neutral point of view). As an insider you've got lots of material to build relevant articles but you must try to adhere strictly to the NPOV policy.

As you'll see over time creating an article is mostly a process of gradual expansion and transformation. I think you can learn the whole Wikipedia process along the way but watch out any lack of objectivity on your side. Always ask yourself a question "What would opponents of Solidarity include in the article?" There are always controversies and less favourable facts about any organisation that should find a place in the text but no doubt put into the right perspective.

Feel free to ask specific questions or ask for advice - I'll try to answer them best as I can.

Regards,
