[edit]

Hello, I'm Rdp060707. I wanted to let you know that I removed one or more external links you added to Project management because they seemed inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. ----Rdp060707|talk 13:34, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I don't quite understand why you find my link inappropriate? Electriceel365 (talk) 13:51, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Project team builder. Wikipedia is not a collection of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links may include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. ----Rdp060707|talk 13:39, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I added this link on another page where I found it appropriate, and I still don't understand why you systematically delete the link that redirects to a company specialized in project management which could be relevant to mention on this page. It's an external link, I didn't include it in the middle of the page, could you please tell me how I could contribute without necessarily being considered a spammer? Electriceel365 (talk) 13:53, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did at Earned value management, you may be blocked from editing. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. Here's a concrete example, I don't understand how this link, which is also broken, is more legitimate than mine: * [Fondation https://www.fotorio.in/2020/09/project-management.html PM] BLOG PM Electriceel365 (talk) 13:55, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps it is also inappropriate? Existence of an inappropriate link does not justify the addition of another. See WP:ELNO for the type of links that should be avoided. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 14:00, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Given that you are very quick to remove links before telling me that an inappropriate link does not justify adding another, it would have been better not to have an inappropriate link in the first place so that I would not be misled into thinking that my link would be just as legitimate as the one that was already present and broken on top of that. I feel that you are being overzealous. Electriceel365 (talk) 14:04, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It would be great if we could do that. Wikipedia is maintained by volunteers and there are currently 6,858,493 articles. There are many people every day spamming their company website, blogs, personal sites, etc. Some inappropriate links unfortunately slip through despite our best efforts. I would say that we are not being zealous enough, but that's not the problem. The problem is there are more people trying to use Wikipedia for their own personal gain than those trying to stop them. Apparition11 Talk/Contribs 14:13, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Initially I wanted to volunteer and help you but when I see the behavior you have it disgusts me so I don't want to be part of a group that suspects everyone of being spammers it's like considering all customers of a store to be thieves because sometimes thieves come Electriceel365 (talk) 14:31, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, when you refuse someone's link on a page. In that case, at least make the effort to check the other links to see if they are already broken - there are tools for that, you know? But in my opinion, you're too busy feeling important about having the power to delete or not delete people's links. You are pathetic! Electriceel365 (talk) 14:32, 28 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Broken links should not automatically be removed. See WP:DEADLINK. If they are valuable, they can be repaired. You added a link that exists purely to sell a product and has no encyclopedic benefit. That is spam. If you decide to help, you can do it however you want to! Again, we are all volunteers and do things how and when wee want (as long as we are following WP:PG). Frankly, until you've done it, you probably shouldn't be advising anybody about something that you have no experience in... I'll ignore your personal attacks, and if you decide to help and have questions, feel free to ask. However, if all you intend to do is complain about how we do our best to maintain Wikipedia, then I have wasted enough time here. If you want to tell me again how power hungry I am for daring to stop you from trying to financially benefit off of the work of unpaid volunteer, go ahead! I won't reply again.
