Hello, ElizabethOgunsuyi, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Hi, I wanted to give you some information on the draft you wrote.

  • You will need to go over this for tone and style, as parts of this come across as a persuasive essay. With controversy sections and controversy in general, the content needs to be carefully written in order to be neutral. Avoid POV statements like "apparent eeriness" and phrases like "in fact", which are often used to argue a point. I'd recommend that you remove this paragraph entirely, as it's unsourced and reads as original research:
Despite this, however, strong demands for resignation, money laundering investigations, and the ultimate eeriness of Quinn's political controversy did not help her 2013 bid for New York City mayor that Mayor De Blasio ultimately won. Rather, Quinn would have to seek other avenues to rectify the damage created to her career, image, and reputation. For instance, increasing her social activism with gay and lesbian causes as well as homelessness advocacy.
  • The controversy over council funds is already covered fairly succinctly in the article, so you will need to trim this section down more. In general, with controversy sections less is always more - you want to make sure that you get the main gist of what went on and avoid going into a level of details that could be seen as too much. I can't stress this enough, as writing about controversy (especially political controversies) can be one of the most difficult things on Wikipedia because it's something that people tend to challenge more quickly than they would some other topics. (Medicine and religion tend to be some of the other most challenged topics on here, if you're curious.)
  • With the sourcing, make sure that you put in a complete citation as others won't be able to access the university's database to find out what source you're citing.

I hope this helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:19, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
