Jen Chapin
[edit]Would you put Jen Chapin back? I believe the notability concerns can be addressed. JJL 22:41, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- My suggestion is that you create the article from scratch, ensuring that the new article meets WP:BIO and WP:BAND. enochlau (talk) 15:18, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Given what happened last time, that doesn't seem like it'd be a fruitful endeavour. JJL 18:52, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- Take it to WP:DRV then. enochlau (talk) 21:18, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- OK: An editor has asked for a deletion review of Jen_Chapin. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. JJL 01:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Small request
[edit]Hi Enoch. Having seen your resarch on which schools various justices of the High Court of Australia went into, can you tell the names of the sources that verify William Gummow and Victor Windeyer as alumni of Sydney Grammar? Thanks! GizzaDiscuss © 06:23, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

transferring an image to Wikimedia Commons and back

Vanadalism from FSHS students
[edit]Hi Enoch, I'm also currently a student from Fort Street High School (I know you have left already, but you do still know lots about it). Is it too often that there are people vanadalising the school page? My user page is being vanadalised now and I'm requesting semi-protection. We've had a small bout of people vandalising people's pages at school after looking at people who logon.
I currently placed a footnote at the bottom of my page pretending that someone knows about the vandalism, and pretending I'm a moderator by placing "this page will be protected" at the end - is that allowed? I'm trying to scare off these people who think they're funny... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alltrainzfan (talk • contribs) 10:08, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

Image:Larry Mullen
[edit]Hello, why did you delete the image of Larry Mullen? I am not at all knowledgeable in image policy, and was given express permission by the webmaster of the website it is published on and the photographer to use it. Thanks! Love, Neranei (talk) 03:06, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I can't find this image in the deletion log. What was the exact filename? It's probably because it wasn't tagged properly and hence deletable under WP:CSD I3 - just because there is "express permission" doesn't mean anything. It needs to be licensed under a free license: see WP:ICT for a choice of license tags. enochlau (talk) 04:31, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, the file name is File:Larry Mullen.jpg. Thanks for the link, should I try again? Love, Neranei (talk) 21:48, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, and tag it properly. enochlau (talk) 22:17, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks very, very much! Love, Neranei (talk) 22:23, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Um, *blushes*, I just looked through the tags and have no idea what tag to use. Could you help? Thanks! Love, Neranei (talk) 22:27, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- You need to get permission to release the image under one of the appropriate free licenses, such as the GFDL or the Creative Commons licenses. They offer different rights and obligations, so you should take the time to explore the different licenses and explain it to the copyright owner. enochlau (talk) 22:30, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, I see. Thanks! Love, Neranei (talk) 22:31, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of The Fuh
[edit]Hey man I know you gotta work hard trying to get rid of all the junk people put on this thing but my page on the Fuh may sound stupid to most people, but I can assure you it is no joke. Iknow a lot of people who do belive in it. So even though it is so little known and sounds like nonsense to you, I ask you to reconsider deleting it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.41.215.22 (talk) 16:10, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
A Belated Apology
[edit]I imagine you don't remember, but in May 2006, you deleted this page, James Cumpsty. That's me. I did what so many other newbies to wikipedia do, i created an article about myself, almost a year before i started editing properly. It only just occurred to me that there would still be a record of its deletion, so i am here now to say sorry for wasting your time, and sorry for making article.

- It was not tagged correctly. See an explanation at User:Aksi great/GFDL-presumed. If you wish to upload it again with a proper license tag, you may do so. enochlau (talk) 14:06, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Vampira Show Titlescreen Image
[edit]Hi. May I ask why you removed the Template:Db-noimage tag from Image:Vampirashowtitlecard.JPG? I personally don't see an image or title screen, but perhaps I am mistaken. If I added the wrong tag or followed the wrong procedure, please let me know. Thanks and sorry for any confusion. Pinkadelica 19:31, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

- Hope it's ok to answer you here. I do see an image in general, but it's incredibly dark. I can't make out what it even is, but if you say you see an image and have no problems with it, that's cool. Pinkadelica 02:14, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I see words in the image - I think you need to adjust the contrast of your screen. Even in that case, that tag is the wrong tag - it's for images that don't even load. enochlau (talk) 10:49, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Advice on correct template to use
[edit]Hey, I'm trying to get the two articles Caisson (Asian architecture) and Zaojing merged. They deal with the same thing, but one is under the English name and the other is under the Chinese name. I have added most of the relevant bits from Zaojing to Caisson (Asian architecture), so Zaojing does not have any significant contents not already in Caisson (Asian architecture).
So I'm wondering what is the correct procedure to use. If the two articles are about precisely the same thing, should I be adding mergeto/mergefrom templates? Or should I be proposing one of them for deletion? --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 11:14, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- (Replied on user page. enochlau (talk) 19:21, 10 October 2007 (UTC))
Yeah, I did that, but another editor is now insisting that they are different. I don't think he actually thinks they are different. He just has an ideological objection against using English words to describe Chinese things. He's insisting that I use a merge discussion. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 22:55, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- (Replied on user page. enochlau (talk) 23:30, 10 October 2007 (UTC))
Just one editor. Now he's messing with the article (Caisson (Asian architecture) to discredit it/remove "his" bits in preparation for the merger discussion. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 23:31, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Stub or Not?
[edit]I don't know if this is article I created is a stub or not. Me is an album by Fiona Sit, and I feel I have added everything that needs to be added. Can you help me judge it out? Song Name
[edit]Sorry to bother you again, but I recently created another new album page for Fiona Sit, Funny Girl, and in it is a song in Chinese named 小黑與我. "小黑" supposedly is a pet, in a cute way, so I named it "Blackie". But then a friend came along and got really offended and called me racist >.> So now I can't really think of a name. Any chance you can help? I really dont want to directly translate it and call it "Little Black". Thankyou in advance~! Dengero 07:31, 21 October 2007 (UTC)
ITN
[edit]We'll see what happens over the next 24 hours. I don't have anyone in mind to take it, but if no one sees your note in the newsroom, I might be able to do it. Given the results of the survey last month, it would appear that many Wikipedians enjoy ITN, so I'd like to make sure we can get it in almost every week. Ral315 » 06:40, 22 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi there, I saw you removed the speedy tag on this article; but you didn't leave a note on my talk page: could you let me know why? The article has no contextual content, and satisfies #7 on the speedy criteria list. The edit summary didn't help explain why you feel the article doesn't qualify for speedy deletion, and the {{hangon}} tag wasn't used. TIA. ColdmachineTalk 08:49, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

- Got your note: many thanks, that makes more sense. It was my first addition of a speedy, so I'm open to the fact I've misinterpreted the guideline. Thanks for helping me understand! ColdmachineTalk 14:04, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
Deletion of Page
[edit]You recently deleted "OSIsoft." I believe you marked it as spam. It was not spam. The article was a Company stub, was factual, and was created in regard to another article about one of the company's products. It contained no opinions, was not in violation of any copyrights, and was important. Can you explain why it got deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Makbrandon (talk • contribs) 15:20, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
- It read like an advertisement. The majority of it was quotation from promotional material. If you wish to rewrite it using a more neutral tone, you are welcome to do so. Otherwise, raise the matter at WP:DRV. enochlau (talk) 15:43, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
