Hi - Regarding the Greg Sarris page, it would be useful if you could find sources for the content you are adding about his parentage. The implied accusation is very serious, indeed libellous, and really can't be allowed to stand without an independent source (newspaper, court records, Navy records, whatever). Vizjim (talk) 22:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the detailed account. I'm not wholly unsympathetic to what you;re saying, but you have not proved your crucial contention that Emilio was out of the country at the time of Sarris' conception. Without that, the material you had in the Sarris article is mostly hearsay and speculation, and can't stand in an encyclopedia. Vizjim (talk) 00:56, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I think it's probably better to present Sarris' account in his own words, to avoid distortion, and for you then to add in sourced facts that contradict his account where you can. I've also left a couple of citation marks in the article where I think it needs sources. Vizjim (talk) 07:50, 3 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Look, Wikipedia is really NOT a good place to begin publishing this material. Have a look at WP:OR and WP:BLP for the reasons. Try presenting this material, in a dossier, to newspaper journalists or even academics working in Native American Studies. If they publish it, or if you can get it published elsewhere, or even (maybe) if you can create a blog with photocopies of all relevant documentation, then this material can go in the article. I am not disputing your claims, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a place to publish original research. Vizjim (talk) 18:58, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

January 2-13 Greg Sarris' own family (the one he claims to be his, that is) has come forward to state categorically that the family has NO Native American blood. This confirms 140 years of historical documentation. I invite you to go to the web site http://www.stopthecasino101.com/id147.html where you can read the sworn Declaration of Mrs. Velia Navarro, the 68 year old matriarch of the family, and hear her own words from a radio interview she gave in October 2012. I will also be happy to send you a guest invitation to Ancestry.com to review the records, or, if you prefer, I can send you a CD with all the documents.

There is a huge difference between personal commentary and fact. I think that you may be so blinded by your personal mission that you refuse to believe that Mr. Sarris is misrepresenting himself as a Native American. This would not be the first time that this has happened. Asa Carter and Ward Churchill both come to mind.

In continuing to support Mr. Sarris, you are doing a gross disservice to the Native community, who view false claims of Native ancestry as being highly offensive. In addition, you insult Mrs. Navarro, who is fighting to stop Mr. Sarris from misrepresenting the women in her family. Ewass (talk) 15:30, 3 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You were incorrect in stating that Sarris' "maternal grandparents" were Tom Smith and Emily Stewart. I corrected it because (1) the timeline is wrong; if Smith and Stewart were Sarris' ancestors, they would be his PATERNAL GREAT GREAT grandparents, and (2) his MATERNAL grandparents,Bunny's parents, which Sarris himself names in a number of sources readily available online, were George H. Hartman and his wife, Bernadette C. Maloney Hartman.

When you research the "sourced" content for Sarris' claim to Native ancestry, you will quickly realize that the primary, original source for his claims to Indian ancestry is himself. He said he was an Indian, and everybody believed it.

Now that the family of Emilio Hilario, Jr. has stepped forward to say publicly, in the press, that this family has no Native blood, I think it counts for something. So what counts as "sourced" content? Sarris established his Native identity by getting it out tot he public. Now there have been several news articles and a radio interview on the subject of his true ancestry. Do these articles count as "sourced"?

When Mr. Sarris joins the ranks of people like Asa Carter, Ward Churchill and Nasdijj, it is your credibility that will be affected.
