Problem with your custom signature
[edit]You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you. 18:02, 7 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Westphalia. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. See also: WP:ICONDECORATION, MOS:FLAGRELEVANCE. Jay D. Easy (t • c) 23:50, 13 October 2020 (UTC)
Dear Jay D. Easy,
If you could please let me know what exactly of adding the official coat of arms of a subdivision of Germany is either unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand. In your comment, you link WP:ICONDECORATION and MOS:FLAGRELEVANCE.
WP:ICONDECORATION says: “Icons should serve an encyclopedic purpose and not merely be decorative. They should provide additional useful information on the article subject, serve as visual cues that aid the reader's comprehension, or improve navigation. Icons should not be added only because they look good: one reader's harmless decoration may be another reader's distraction. An icon is purely decorative if it does not improve comprehension of the article subject and serves no navigational function.”
- The ‘icons’ do serve an encyclopaedic purpose as they are the official identifying symbols of the mentioned districts and governmental districts. Therefore, should persons be in Germany and see one of these symbols on an official sign or, even from outside Germany, get into contact with a local authority or other person or institution who use it, these persons will immediately know that they are in, or correspond with, persons or authorities from the listed districts or governmental districts. Because of that, the concerning persons will also know that they are in Westphalia or are in contact with someone from that region. Thus, the coats of arms provide additional useful information on the article subject and serve as visual cues that aid the reader’s comprehension and were not added ‘only because they look good’.
Your reference to MOS:FLAGRELEVANCE is irrelevant as its content is about flags.
Furthermore, you did not only delete the icons but also removed the population numbers of the governmental districts of Westphalia. You additionally put the district of Lippe into the list of districts of Westphalia despite information in the paragraph above saying that this region, which is represented by that district, is distinct from Westphalia although it is a part of the Governmental District of Detmold.
If you really want to contribute to improving an article, please do so by adding valuable information instead of randomly deleting things or adding misleading information. FMue 02:43, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
