Kumasi

[edit]

Never heard that pronunciation. Could you provide a ref? — kwami (talk) 04:18, 16 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Flusus! You've certainly been hard at work on Kumasi and other Ghana-related articles, but I'm a bit concerned about some idiosyncrasies you've introduced into the articles. For instance, in "Kumasi", you virtually never just say "Kumasi". It's always either "Kumasi metropolis" or "Kumasi metropolis megacity". Now, first off, most definitions of megacity say that the metro area in question has to have a population of at least 10 million. Kumasi's is only 7 million. So it's not a megacity. Second, this insistence on always calling it "Kumasi metropolis" is really awkward and is certainly not standard English usage. If you go to the articles for, say, Lagos or Los Angeles, you'll notice that they just call the city by its name, they don't insist on saying "Lagos metropolis" every time the city is mentioned. In fact, on the article for Lagos, the metro of which has a population of some 21 million, the word "metropolis" only occurs twice and megacity never, even though Lagos has a far greater claim to being a megacity than Kumasi.

I would go ahead and make the fixes myself, but I am frankly staggered by the amount of material you have added in recent days. I don't want to revert your edits, because they appear to contain a great deal of valid information, but the non-standard English in which they're presented makes them problematic. To get us started, I'm going to go into Kumasi and remove all the instances of "megacity". Would you be willing to go in and make some fixes, say by removing all these excess instances of "metropolis"? If not, I'll probably raise the issue of your edits over at WikiProject Ghana and see if we can't find a broader group of people to help bring your contributions-- which I think have great substance-- up to the stylistic standards of the English Wikipedia.

Thank you for your time. You can respond to me either on here or at my talk page. Best wishes, Tigercompanion25 (talk) 17:01, 17 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disruptive editing regarding Ashanti city state, Ashantiland, Ashanti Empire, Kumasi megacity, etc.

[edit]

Please stop making disruptive edits.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.

In multiple articles you've promoted the view that Ashanti is a separate entity from Ghana. This is disruptive. We don't update Wikipedia regarding the independence of a political entity until that is achieved in practice and is an accepted viewpoint.

NOTE: I've reverted quite a bit of content you added.Icewhiz (talk) 06:40, 22 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
