Hi Giles will. Which article is this draft introduction for? Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:56, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adam, thank you for the response. I wrote that introduction as if I am creating an article on "Amateurism in Collegiate Sports" as instructed by my professor. However, I initially intended to add it to the "Amateur sports" article under the "North American Collegiate Athletics" section. My professor wanted me to wait to hear suggestions from you about placement of my article and for now write as if I am creating a new article.

  • Ok. The first thing I would to is identify which sources you used to write the draft and cite them where they support a particular claim. For instance "Over the course of the 20th and early 21st century, regulatory changes, court claims, and the beliefs of NCAA authority about student-athlete compensation further developed what an amateur collegiate athlete is entitled to receive." This may be true, but who says it? This is a good chance to find good sources on the history of the concept and the debate and include them in your contribution.
    • The current content isn't a great example of what you'd like to shoot for (as it is unreferenced), but you can see some of the expectations laid out in this handout.
  • Take a look at what is currently in that section. Ask yourself what each paragraph does and if that's necessary or important for the article as a whole to cover. Then see if your proposed replacement covers the same ground. I hope this helps. Adam (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:17, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Adam. I recently posted in my sandbox my full article with citations included within it. I still would like to replace the current section called "North American Collegiate Athletics" within the page titled "Amateur Sports", but would be open to also making my article its own page. Please let me know if you think my article can be posted to the mainspace. If so, then where should it be posted? Thank you!
