Regarding your homework that makes you add content to WIkipedia. We realize that your intentions are good, but here is a quote from our manual of style (Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Chemistry/Safety): "The majority of compounds could be described by a long list of potential hazards as well as H&P phrases. Wikipedia does not aspire to be a surrogate for MSDS and does not provide advice as a matter of policy. The hazards associated with most chemical compounds are adequately described in the Chembox via GHSPictograms, GHSSignalWord, NFPA, or MainHazard parameters; further elaborated in H and P phrases."

The basic idea is that Wiki-chem understands that folks want to add safety info because it seems helpful (and one doesnt need to know many chem technicalities), but Wiki-chem just does not compete with the many MSDS's that are prevalent. --Smokefoot (talk) 15:05, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for explaining to me why the section I added was not needed. I based my addition on how other chemicals on Wikipedia include safety sections on pages such as hydrochloric acid or polystyrene. I was wondering what about my section could be edited or expanded upon to make it acceptable to add to wikipedia. Is that a possibility at all for this article or is a safety section simply deemed unnecessary for this chemical? Giselle.celestial (talk) 17:29, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
