Kingdom of Calontir
[edit]I suggest you compare your project with the page for Kingdom of the Outlands. The Outlands page basically says, we're a club, here's a bit of our history, here are links to our activities and websites. Wikipedia is a not a free web host and it is not a substitute for your own web site. Also, the indivdual articles on awards and other internal kingdom business really do fall below Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and are written in a very silly way, as if they are things in the real world. I suggest you rework the main article in your user space WP:USER and then recreate it here when it's done. To keep it from being speedily deleted, note on the new article's talk page that it is not a recreation of a deleted article but a substantial rewrite. Thanks for contributing. It does take a couple of tries to get the hang of it. Don't give up.
Regarding the individual awards, please look at the guidelines for notability. As an example, there is a list of Boy Scout merit badges, but the actual description of how to earn them is a link to a BSA page, and there are no lists on Wikipedia of merit badge winners. Wikipedia sees itself as an encyclopedia and tries to have articles meet certain guidelines (see WP:NOT and WP:BIO). The criteria to win awards in a branch of the SCA and the list of winners belongs on your own web site or the SCA's wiki, not here. Good luck. Thatcher131 15:02, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
- I've done some work on this article and I do not think it will be deleted in its current state. The projects you're talking about with awards and providing information to newcomers are not the kind of thing Wikipedia is about, but they'd probably be welcome at Cunnan, an SCA Wiki, which currently doesn't have much in the way of articles about Calontir. To flesh out the article, it would be great if you could find as much mainstream news coverage as possible (whether it's online or not) of events in Calontir. Perhaps you could send an email out to some of the Baronies and Shires and see if they have any news clippings or historical records. Also good would be more information about the origins of the Kingdom, what makes Calontir different from other SCA Kingdoms, some of Calontir's "firsts," or some really important people and events in Calontir's history (the sort of things pretty much everyone in Calontir would know about). More information about Lilies would be great, too. Of course, this all has to comply with Wikipedia's verifiability policy and be comprehensible to people who don't know anything about the SCA. Let me know if you have any questions. - AdelaMae (talk - contribs) 08:45, 7 March 2006 (UTC)
