Request for adminship

[edit]

I've thought long and hard about this, and I'm pleased to tell you that I would like to accept your nomination. Please fill in the description while I answer the questions. — Wenli (reply here) 23:35, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, but will I edit-conflict you in any way? -Goodshoped 23:37, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have no idea what are your interests!!! How do I describe you?! -Goodshoped 23:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the description doesn't need to be long, (like this one). My primary interests are with the little things at Wikipedia: wikifying articles, fixing typos, reverting vandalism, etc... If you like, I can answer the questions before you write your description. — Wenli (reply here) 23:45, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's really no rush. We can start the process today, tomorrow, whenever... I need to go right now, but I'll be back at around 24:45 (UTC). — Wenli (reply here) 23:48, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It expires in three days. -Goodshoped 23:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No no no! When you start the process, you change the time at the top to seven days after. — Wenli (reply here) 00:38, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK. I'll change it, but I'm busy right now. Someone tagged my page at first! -Goodshoped 00:50, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that I can transclude the page onto the main RfA page now; is there anything else that you would like to add? — Wenli (reply here) 01:42, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's pretty much it; but you should indicate the acceptance thing. And to transclude it, you need to template it. -Goodshoped 01:45, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing...you need to sign your description. — Wenli (reply here) 01:46, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. -Goodshoped 01:49, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re. I think you may want...

[edit]

That vandal has not edited since the last warning I posted on his talk page. There's no need to place another last warning. If the last warning is transgressed then the vandal is to be reported to WP:AIV. Húsönd 00:02, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, actually, before any of the warnings surfaced after my 1st warning, the user blanked his talkpage, so I gave him a 4th warning. And, about the template: do you want me to have it deleted, merged, or just left-alone? And not only that, you may want to keep a close eye on this user, because he's been messing with some user's userboxes and guestbook and shouting profanity. -Goodshoped 00:07, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And that vandal just added something on my userpage! -Goodshoped 00:20, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much

[edit]

Thank you very much for your gift. Looks like the user in question has been blocked for now, I'll keep an eye on his activities when he is unblocked in 24 hours. Bobo. 00:36, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. -Goodshoped 00:49, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

helpme

[edit]

{{helpme}} Is anyone French here (or knows French)? If so, what does Vous êtes une chienne mean, because someone vandalized my page with this phrase at first. -Goodshoped 03:03, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This template is for help with editing Wikipedia. There is probably a user category that could help you though. -- John Reaves 03:08, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I'll check around. -Goodshoped 03:10, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Their message was not friendly, and I would prefer not to leave it here, but you did ask.
According to Google translate, they said "You are a bitch". --OnoremDil 03:11, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok...thanks for your help... -Goodshoped 03:13, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cool!

[edit]

Thanks for those barnstars (wow, THREE barnstars! I can't believe it!) Best, --Gp75motorsports 10:40, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome. One was by your friend Greenwood1010, and two of them are from me. And we need something new... -Goodshoped 00:08, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Either way...

[edit]

Nothing has happened. Yet. We're still about a city's length away from the next blaze... ~user:orngjce223 how am I typing? 19:08, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's cool. I heard it's chaotic down at San Diego. I mean, over at San Fran, we've been hearing about the stadium closing, and the other stuff. -Goodshoped 00:07, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And you don't have to enclose it in ==='s. I got rid of that rule a long time ago.

Thanks but...

[edit]

Thank you for the barnstar, but I didn't remove the vandalism from your userpage. If you look at the page history, it actually was User:Acroterion that did it. Just thought that I should point that out to you. Captain panda 00:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then how come I saw...oh right. You were doing something. I didn't know that. If you want, you can keep it, or delete it. -Goodshoped 00:29, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And I think that was vandalism. I remember typing the message correctly. -Goodshoped 00:30, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Captain Panda fixed a typo, and Excirial and I undid the vandal; it's been a while since I saw an image vandal making the rounds, and that particular image is always popular for the purpose. Thanks for the barnstar! Acroterion (talk) 00:40, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. I should think about becoming an admin, but I just tried out and failed, then my page would be left alone. But, it seems like that person though I was gay, which I'm not, because, apparently, he didn't look throughly through my collection. He thought I was "one h-word b-word". So, glad that user is blocked indefinitely, but I'm worried he would start making sockpuppets to attribute my account to continue vandalizing me. It could be an IP who was visually vandalizing his own page with naked women pictures and ear wax. Anyway, you're welcome. -Goodshoped 00:45, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
My userpage and talk pages have been vandalized dozens of times, often in a quite vile manner. I just revert and report to AIV. I have no interest in what the vandals think, or what they have to say. By the way, there's no particular point in leaving a warning on an indef-blocked editor's talk page - it was just a throwaway sockpuppet account and is effectively dead. Best just to deny the recognition to the vandal and go on. Being an admin is no defense - you're just a bigger target for some truly nasty people. To be an admin you need a thick skin, a calm manner, a thorough knowledge of policy, and a fairly long track record. Give it time, learn from other Wikipedians, and you'll do fine. Don't sweat the vandals. Acroterion (talk) 00:51, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's true. Even though I may be an admin, I would warn them myself, using a custom-crafted message, and how do you add an only-warning template to vandal's talkpages? -Goodshoped 00:54, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are lots of warning templates here. I'd stick to the officially-sanctioned templates; bland, generic, polite messages in ascending order, assuming good faith in the face of evidence to the contrary, get the best results. Yelling or getting fancy just incite the vandals, because they're getting a reaction. Acroterion (talk) 00:59, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When I saw the account talk page, I saw you give them a only warning (or was it someone else?) Anyway, yeah. I'll stick with the official templates for now... -Goodshoped 01:01, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That was because it was the second incarnation of a previously blocked sockpuppet account that did the same to Bearian earlier. Since it was clearly a block evasion and clearly intended to harm (as opposed to an obnoxious test), there could be no AGF, and it got the only warning and a report to AIV as a returning sockpuppet of a blocked user. Acroterion (talk) 01:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have you considered reporting it? And what did he/she want with me? I don't recall ever crossing paths with that user. -Goodshoped 01:09, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And he just reincarnated himself as User talk:PWeeHerMan. You should write it up now, but he just got blocked, again. I'm going to check the logs now. -Goodshoped 01:12, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

<undent - tired of counting colons> That was the sock that went after Bearian before you, and was consequentially blocked. I did report your sock - that's why he was blocked. As to why - who knows? What difference does it make? You cross paths with all sorts, and some change their identities to make trouble. It had nothing to do with you personally, just somebody who wanted to stir someone up. Acroterion (talk) 01:15, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He's probably homophobic or something. Anyway, I got something later, so, talk to you later. -Goodshoped 01:16, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not ancient history. He got my page one more time, and this time it's a personal attack! -Goodshoped 18:58, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You should sign with 4 tildes. No offense or anything. As for black, no one can see the words. You may want a lighter color, gray I assume? -Goodshoped 05:13, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure! Tony Spencer Hawk 05:44, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UWU Creator

[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to inform you that it was the User: King of Nepal who created the UWU, NOT Gp75motorsports. King of Nepal served as the first chairman and I would like it if you removed the award that you gave Gp75motorsports. Thankyou--Greenwood1010 14:08, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK. And if you're a Tony Hawk fan, he is in Wikipedia! -Goodshoped 18:44, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, that wasn't very nice

[edit]

I'm referring to this edit you left on my IP's talk page. You know, I've significantly contributed to two good articles, and I've created 5 articles and a few stubs. I have an emotional disorder that forces me to be destructive and abusive, while at the same time being good and constructive somewhere else.

It's very hard for me to contribute constructively as an IP. On top of that, I have to constantly back track myself to revert my own bad faith edits. I refuse to take medication because once I start, I will have to take a pill the rest of my life.

For what it is worth, please don't judge people. It just isn't very nice and sometimes it's difficult to understand the situation. You can delete this if you want, but the point of this (without any redundant wikilinks to hollow policies) is just be nice to people. Regards, 70.250.215.30 00:00, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
