Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Respect copyrights - do not copy and paste text or images directly from other websites.
  • Maintain a neutral point of view - this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • Take particular care while adding biographical material about a living person to any Wikipedia page. Particularly, controversial and negative statements should be referenced to multiple reliable sources.
  • No Sockpuppetry.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add troublesome content to any article, such as: copyrighted text, libel, advertising or promotional messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Deliberately adding such content or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, doing so will result your account or IP being blocked from editing.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Sockpuppet Investigation

[edit]

You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the notes for the suspect, then respond to the evidence at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Exazonk. Thank you. Hello & welcome to Wikipedia!

First of all, I am glad the sock puppet investigation proved your innocence.

Now, in regards to the AVN article I appreciate that you are trying to help out by adding additional material. Unfortunately, I had to remove most of it as it doesn't really fit into Wikipedia policy. Keep in mind that this is an encyclopedia and as such should only summarize the most important details, not try to contain every possible piece of information. The long explanation of AVN's defense isn't really relevant and the extended discussion of the complaint gives it undue weight. The complaint, at least so far, is a relatively minor event compared to the 15 year history of the organization. It should not be given more weight (text) than reliable sources do and so far, the investigation has only been briefly covered in the main stream media.

Furthermore, explaining that various sources used by AVN have been discredited borders on original research. It isn't really our job to draw novel conclusions (that they use bad data), but instead only summarize what third party reliable sources have said. (Indeed, a recent news story said they have a tendency to misinterpret data and that is opinion is already noted as being the mainstream one in the AVN article.) In other words, general conclusion reported by RS = fine; specific example based on analyzing AVN's own postings= bad. Hopefully that makes sense.

I know this might be confusing (certainly was to me when I just started here), so do let me know if you have any questions, ThaddeusB (talk) 17:21, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Both of the recently added sources were appropriate. I edited both additions for style (I try to avoid long quotes to maintain good flow), but left the content intact. --ThaddeusB (talk) 23:09, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
