Orphaned non-free image File:Tomb Raider Underworld -Limited Edition- incl DVD ost.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Tomb Raider Underworld -Limited Edition- incl DVD ost.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Batman album covers

[edit]

I have removed the soundtrack covers for Batman: Arkham City because they both still fail WP:FUC and WP:NONFREE#Images. Non-free images require critical commentary on the image itself for use on Wikipedia. The only exception to this rule is the image used in the infobox to illustrate the article as a whole. These articles are on the games, not the soundtracks, thus the soundtrack images cannot be used to illustrate the game. An article on a soundtrack would be able to have an image of the cover art, but when it comes to soundtracks being mentioned in articles on games or films, their cover art is not usable unless there is critical commentary on that cover art. Critical commentary would be more than someone simply describing the image, it would be detailed commentary about the image that would require a reader to see said image just to better understand the commentary. That is not the case here. Just because there is an "infobox" for the album in the article does not mean that an image needs to be present. This is true everywhere on Wikipedia, so if you see this issue on other articles please correct it and point people to those policies on non-free images. I don't monitor game articles in general, I just happen to be looking at this page and the Gears 3 page. I did the same thing for other games a long time ago when I stumble across them.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:19, 11 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
