User talk:Halibutt/Black Book
This page is a good idea, maybe it will keep discussions more civil. But I have a suggestion. If some user is listed here, he should be informed about it. Otherwise the deterrent effect will of course be lost. In fact, the user should be informed and invited to apologize or take back what he wrote. We should think of some standard message to this effect. Balcer 22:01, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

- Jak widac pierwsza reakcja pozytywna, po tym jak powiedzialem komus ze go tutaj dodalem :)--Witkacy 22:29, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Hummm... where did this page go? Also, let's keep this discussion in English, ok? This way the "deterrent potential" will not be diminished by our barbaric language nobody understands. Halibutt 23:16, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)
- Lol, it does look like somebody can't take critisism too well. I hope this does not degenerate into witch-hunt - I will VfD this then myself - but a collection of anti-Polish quotes may be amusing, at least. Poles are known worldwide for the lack of will/ability to unite and defend their good name - perhaps this will be an exception to this rule, and help educate other Wikipedians that they should not offend Poles because they are Poles. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 11:18, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I've added a mention of this page to the Village Pump; with any luck that will draw substantial and insightful comment.
Disclaimer: I don't currently believe this page is a good idea. I fear that it will tend to polarize and escalate disputes rather then settle them. There are few ways to more efficiently offend someone than to accuse them of bias and bigotry. --TenOfAllTrades(talk) 16:49, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
The intro says that many editors will assume bad faith simply because the person they are talking to is Polish. How will the presence of this page do anything but confirm and expand that assumption? --Carnildo 19:03, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Bad example
[edit]I feel these kind of pages and statements only deteriorate relations between wikipedians, as said above it will lead to more disputes and not settle them. And I urge all of you to stop this page. This is really stooping to an alltime wikipedia low! It also directly goes against our policy of wikilove! Waerth 02:44, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Rather than a 'Black book' attack page, how about instead a friendly outreach/education page? --Jimbo Wales 14:42, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- That's a nice approach. Still, it does look like this project is dead, and I don't mind it either way - there is a lot of better things to do :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 09:45, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
