AfD nomination of Illini Drumline[edit]

I have nominated Illini Drumline, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Illini Drumline. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Evan ¤ Seeds 08:12, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: deleted Illini Drumline material[edit]

I'm afraid deleted content is not available to most users. If you contact a administrator, they may be able to help you, but I'm afraid I can't. --Evan ¤ Seeds 10:05, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While I appreciate the comment, I am far from a Wikipedia expert. I personally did not delete the article, as only administrators may delete, and I do not have administrative powers. I merely nominated it for deletion, as is the standard here, and it was discussed by Wikipedia editors and an administrator decided it should be deleted. But no, I personally do not have any administrative powers, and I simply CANNOT access any deleted content. And while you may think it's presumptuous to delete an article where one has limited experience, perhaps you should become more familiar with Wikipedia's notability standards before attempting to try to write another article. Also, may I suggest you read Your first article and perhaps try to submit the Illini drumline at Articles for Creation? Both of these may help you understand how things work around here. Also, in regards to doing this via email: as I am merely a volunteer here at Wikipedia, I prefer not to bring my personal email into this. Also, I recommend you do not post your email address directly on Wikipedia. Since it is a very high traffic website, spambots would likely harvest your email address and send you lots of spam. For information on allowing people to email you through wikipedia without this problem, check out WP:EMAIL. --Evan ¤ Seeds 20:40, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, any administrator can do everything that any other administrator may, so if Aitias does not respond, you may ask any other administrator, but I don't know of a specific administrator to suggest. I would recommend you find a fairly active administrator, and one who is interested in your specific subject, in this case colleges, marching band, or percussion, is more likely to respond more quickly. In response to "suggesting that an article should be edited": the article's deletion was up for discussion for 5 days at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Illini_Drumline, which is a completely public page, easily accessible to any person who visited the article, and in your case, I posted the link on this talk page as soon as I nominated it for deletion. And while you may argue that articles shouldn't be deleted until the article's creator has a say, often people come and make one or two articles and don't ever return. --Evan ¤ Seeds 21:48, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
First off, let me say that I've been trying my best to help you. It's true that I haven't gone too far out of my way, because I honestly doubt that the Illini drumline as an entity passes Wikipedia's notability standards (as seen here. If the Illini drumline does indeed qualify, it will most likely be under criterion 1.) With regards to "find[ing] the content which [I] deleted", first off, I didn't delete it, I nominated it for deletion, but I think you understand that by now. As I said, I don't have direct access to this content so I would have to go through an administrator as well, and since you obviously care about this more than I do, I figured you'd be more likely to get it done. I will, however, ask for an administrator on the IRC channel to take a look at this. W.r.t. being an expert, I'm certainly not an expert on drumlines or marching percussion, but I'm not completely clueless, having marched for 4 years including 1 as part of a college line. --Evan ¤ Seeds 14:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
