Information icon Hello, I'm Charlesdrakew. I wanted to let you know that I removed an external link you added to the page Geldeston, because it seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Stop icon This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Rockland St Mary, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. I'm sorry if I have breached any guidelines, However the links I have posted were to a website that covers The Norfolk Broads and places within that area e.g. Geldeston, Rocland St Mary etc. I thought that they would prove useful links and as they are factual and unbiased and met with the guidelines Hank99uk (talk) 13:38, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Charles

[edit]

I run a website & forum called The Norfolk Broads Org (NBO). This site is dedicated to the broads, it's businesses, attractions and events. Places such as Geldeston, Rockland St Mary etc are all given their own page(s) as are pubs eg The new Inn Horning, The Dog Ludham etc. also attractions such as BewilderWood, the Bure valley Railway, Neatishead RADAR musem and so on. The site tries to be factual, accurate and up to date. Therefore I am at a loss as to why the site should be considered inappropriate as an external link for these places in Wikipedia. I have gone through the guidlines and see no apparent reason why I should not link the site. Perhaps I'm missing something? Going through Wikipedia I see such links to similar forums & sites (one or two are actually friendly rivals). which led me to post my own link. If I posted the link more specifically targeted eg www.thenorfolkbroads.org/placename.html would that be more acceptable?

I would appreciate a reply thankyou

A tag has been placed on User:Hank99uk/The Norfolk Broads Organisation, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Charles (talk) 17:10, 23 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
