@HelpTheBear: That is correct. Our policy on the project forbids the use of non-free images anywhere on the project except on actual encyclopedia articles. This is codified in WP:NFCC #9. I'm sorry you're affected by this policy, but it is policy. If you want to change it, you can begin a discussion to do so at WT:NFC.
