COI

[edit]

This page is for messages. Please do not use it for drafting articles. In creating Hepcnomads, you would appear to have a COI. I recommend you to leave it to others to write about your website. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 23:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]
This account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia, because it has been identified as an account used for promotion of a company or group, with a username that implies that this has been done by that company or group. See Wikipedia:Business' FAQ and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.

This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.

You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.

Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.

Review request

[edit]

I am writing about the Hepcnomads page that has been blocked - I wrote the following at 02.00-ish last night and the listing was completely blocked: *1*

I am the principal author of the hepcnomads page for wiki; I have hep c and stumbled across the Nomads by accident through a protracted web search for support. I drafted the page and sent it to the founders of the site for their approval and consequent posting. *2*

The site provides a lifeline to a large group of people who are affected by hepatitis c and it was my intention to use wiki to spread the word that the forum existed. *3*

As you will hopefully see I do not share the same ip as the poster, but he has given me his log on and password for editing purposes as we hope that the page will become a living document as it is hoped that hep c sufferers might find it. *4*

Being diagnosed with hep c is a terrifying experience and the web as a resource is invaluable, but there is much nasty and negative info and data which can be very upsetting to read.

Hepatitis c is known as a 'silent epidemic' as the rates for those actually diagnosed pale by those who are infected - knowledge, awareness and de-stigmatisation on the key issues of the virus are central.

So, in conclusion, the page has been written by me and proofed, approved and posted by John Semple the founder of the forum.

Please do not delete it as it is there to educate, assist and engage on a very important issue. we hope, collectively, to bring a lot more to the page in the near future.

I would be happy to engage in any further discussions

Kind regards, Banch1965 (via e-mail)

*1* where did you post it? Even if you are blocked you should be able to edit this page.
*2* bad idea, as was you choice of username. You do not need anybody's permission to write articles here!
*3* that sounds suspiciously like some of the rules in WP:NOT - Wikipedia is not for advertising!
*4* even admins are not allowed to see the IP addresses used by logged in users.
Being realistic, I am very dubious about whether a very specialised website created in 2007 Dec is notable enough for Wikipedia. What I suggest is: a) create a new account for yourself with a name that has nothing to do with anything, eg. Banch1965. b) work carefully through the edit history of the Hepatitis C article (ignore red-linked and anon users) to identify someone who is clearly interested in the subject and currently active. Contact them on their user talk page and ask them if they think the website is notable and if they are willing to post your text. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 09:26, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
