GamerGate controversy

Regarding your edit on Gamergate controversy, since these chan forums are anonymous, it's really hard to state that a minority coordinated actions against those who opposed the movement. Is that a minority of everyone who ever used the hashtag? Or a minority of those posting on the online forums? This question goes beyond your edit to a statement that a minority of people/users/redditors/channers? participated. I think this wording is in place to locate the harassment in a few "bad apples" but the truth is that no one, reliable or not, can quantify how many people participated in sending harassing emails, Tweets, phone calls or letters. I think "by a minority" should be removed since that statement can't be supported. Do you agree or should I move this to the article talk page? Liz ^{Read! Talk!} 21:16, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

I think the only citation is that the number of people actively doing bad things are a minority of people affiliated with the movement, which I think is trivially true. I mean, the number of people who actively do anything related to activism is always smaller than the number of people who passively do something related to joining. I think it's shitty wording, and I'd love to start reverting on the article, but I'm not going to be the guy who gets banned, because I forsee the hammer coming and I intend to accumulate a massive amount of not-reverted edits to point to as the good guy. Shooting the messenger

I noticed that you are sticking up for MB with frequent posts at the talk pages of two admins. Unfortunately you are shooting the messenger—you should be harassing the arbitrators who dumped the mess on the community. The two admins whom you think are wrong are in fact MB's best friends—if MB cannot understand that being right is not enough, he will end up being topic or site banned. The admins who are trying to keep order cannot sanction one side and allow personal commentary from the other. Please direct your efforts towards helping MB find a procedure compatible with Wikipedia—he needs to learn the wisdom of working for the long term without being drawn into the daily fray. I have tried to think of some useful advice, but the best I can come up with is STFU and he does not seem in the mood to hear that. Johnuniq (talk) 00:24, 25 February 2015 (UTC)

Arbiters are accountable to the community. Every one of them who voted against the spa prohibition or for topic bans of people being harassed by a mysoginistic hate group will feel it next election. Admins are accountable to no one. I disagree that Dreadstar is not culpable. Dr. Bernstein's procedure seems fine to me. You might be surprised how little people care about being "banned" when the alternative is to allow said hate group to colonize yet another website.
