Help[edit]

I edited Dengue and it got removed for not having citing sources. I can understand that, which I'll continue to work on. But what I don't understand is that the article on Dengue is very well written and very thorough, except for alternative medicines. Why's that? Not one word is mentioned. Not one small paragraph, nothing. I am new to this and do not have a lot of skill in research, but it is really obvious there is no balance to this article when not one word is mentioned about alternative medicines. I was extremely disappointed when I first read this article to see what alternative medicines where being looked into for this fever, but nothing was mentioned and had to go else where on the web to find my answers. Today, more and more people want to know what there options are on both sides of the aisle. We go to wiki for find a balance approach, not this one sided approach. Can someone help me understand why there is no section for phytotherapy or herbal medicine? Many other article that discuss other diseases include something about phytotherapy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hjc906 (talkcontribs) 06:48, 21 November 2011‎

Sorry it took me so long to reply. For medical claims we use our guideline for sourcing for medical claims; in brief, we use peer-reivewed review articles published in medical literature as the main sources, though some textbooks and websites (like WHO, and other major medical organizations) are also useful. Alternative medicine treatments are often difficult to get correctly, as the journals that solely discuss alternative medicine usually are not very reliable for information as they tend to be more promotional and biased towards alternative medicine. Please feel free to ask me more questions if you have them, and happy editing! Yobol (talk) 20:01, 25 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
