Recent edits to Robert W. Cone[edit]

Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Robert W. Cone), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! Materialscientist (talk) 12:07, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hulagu6, one of the problems is the warning you added to the article. When Materialscientist rightly removed that warning, he also took away the change to Cone's dates of service. I found an archived copy of the Army Times article and corroborating evidence via Facebook, and I agree with the statement that Cone retired in 2014. I've changed the article accordingly. However, no disclaimer about identity theft should be placed in this or any article. (See Liliane Bettencourt for another case history in not mentioning the scams abusing the subject's name). —C.Fred (talk) 13:28, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

C. Fred -- OK, I accept the prohibition on scam warnings. The correction regarding the retirement status and not serving in Afghanistan should be helpful enough in disrupting this scam. Thanks.

May 2015[edit]

Please stop your disruptive behaviour. Your behaviour is verging on harassment. Wikipedia prides itself on providing a safe environment for its collaborators, and harassing edits, such as the one you made to User talk:Materialscientist, potentially compromise that safe environment. If you continue behaving like this, you may be blocked from editing. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 13:10, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please remember to assume good faith when dealing with other editors, which you did not do on User talk:Materialscientist. " I will assume you are somehow associated with this fraud and takek appropriate actions" is not an appropriate way to speak to other users. Also, it could be perceived as a legal threat, which is not permitted on Wikipedia and will get you blocked. Joseph2302 (talk) 13:11, 11 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Fortuna, Joseph -- Thanks for the info. Please acknowledge that Materialscientist's "correction" was not supported by the reference he used. Rather, the reference supports my change that accurately describes Cone's retired status. I certainly appreciate all you editors do, but the devil is always in the details. I acknowledge that the scam warning is not appropriate for Wikipedia. Thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Hulagu6 (talkcontribs)

You also need to go to Materialscientist's talk page and explicitly retract your threat of legal action, a matter we take seriously. Failure to withdraw or retract a legal threat can get you blocked. --Orange Mike | Talk 22:31, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
