Peer Review Response Letter[edit]

The peer reviewers gave me good advice on improving my section for Wikipedia. A main question that I had after the first draft was how to format the section. Both reviewers thought separating it into certain paragraphs would be the best way to go. As a result I made a paragraph on the effects of biofilms and another on how they affect each separate industry. One reviewer suggested I add more hard facts into the article to give supporting detail. I found this suggestion helpful as I tried to give numerical evidence that I found on the topic. Other suggestions included advice on phrasing and organization which I found to be helpful when finalizing the section. One reviewer thought I should expand on the cleaning procedures, but I thought that that information wasn’t exactly necessary for the particular page I was editing. Context Memo[edit]

To: ENGW3302 Class 4/8/16

Here is the link to my Wikipedia sandbox that shows the work I did for the Biofilm page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Huntwc/sandbox. What I did for this project was explain how biofilms affect the food industry. An encyclopedia is intended to give unbiased facts to the reader. The biofilm page described in great detail what they were but was lacking on what they do. There was a small section on biofilms in medicine so I thought it was necessary to add more information about the food industry. I think this section can serve as an informative piece as to how food can spoil and becoming harmful to consumers. Although there are several factors that can cause this problem, I think highlighting the effects of biofilms brings attention to the subject.
