"Highpoint" vs "High Post" Hitch?

[edit]

It doesn't look like you have been active since your work on the highpoint hitch article, but I was just leaving this note on the chance you are still monitoring this account... I have a question regarding the name. The hitch you described and pictured in that article is shown in The Ashley Book of Knots as #1809. It is one of two different quick-release hitches Ashley calls "High post hitches" -- that is releasable hitches intended for use high overhead such as at the top of a piling at low tide... I was wondering what your source was on the highpoint name? Was this from a book, local usage where you live, the name the person who showed you the knot used, etc? It would be helpful to know for the purpose of improving and properly citing the article. If you see this message, feel free to respond here, on my talk page or on the article's talk page at Talk:Highpoint hitch. Thanks very much!
