Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Fresh-air-blue.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 00:26, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} How do I get rid of the picture? I can't locate the source, only that it's on a website and says that it's for business' to print and post. Then, if you look at my article, I started it like the notes said and listed all of my sources. It said that it would automatically turn into links. How do I remove them and get them into footnotes???Iccgroupone (talk) 02:42, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  1. By your article I'm assuming you mean - Smoke-Free_Illinois_Act_Public_Act_095-0017, see also why you shouldn't say/feel that you WP:OWN an article.
  2. The image should be automatically deleted after a few days, the template that was put in place flags the image to be deleted in a few days.
  3. For changing the References you listed to full citations you will probably want to use Wikipedia:Citation templates. I recommend Magnus' Citation generator to help you with this. You will put in as much information as you can provide into the tool and it will return a filled in template. For footnotes you will want to use ref tags, (<ref> Footnote information in here. </ref>) and you will need to put {{reflist}} in the references section of your article. If you don't have anything in particular you are trying to cite, remove the ref tags and place the citation between a {{refbegin}} and {{refend}} template in that same references section, just below the reflist. -Optigan13 (talk) 03:45, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The one problem with providing a really long explanation is that I usually get beat to answering it. Oh well.
The picture has already been tagged for deletion - if you take no action on it, the file will be deleted in about five days anyway. If you'd prefer it get nailed faster, you can add {{db-author}} to the image description page.
As for the references, you can make them into footnotes by enclosing each link in <ref> </ref> tags, like this:
This sentence is referenced. <ref> Your first reference goes here. </ref>
This one uses another reference. <ref name="foo"> This is my second reference, which I'll use again, so I'm giving it a name. </ref>
This sentence will also use that second reference. <ref name="foo"/>
This sentence has yet another reference. <ref name="bar"> Reference #3 </ref>
At the end of your article, add this code:
== References ==
{{Reflist}}
This will add a new section for references and allow them to be displayed. The example article above will display like this:
^ Your first reference goes here.
^a b This is my second reference, which I'll use again, so I'm giving it a name.
^ Reference #3
While I'm here, I want to point out that your article is in need of clean up. It's written very much like an essay right now, which could be seen as a violation of one of our policies on what Wikipedia is not. Working on your article to provide more information about the Smoking Act itself, changing to a more neutral point of view, and attention to the Manual of Style should help improve the article and lessen the chances of a deletion nomination. I don't mean to say your article is bad, I just want to point out some of our policies that I think could help you out. Happy editing, and good luck with the article! Help!

[edit]

Ok hello. Glad I know who I'm talking to now :) How can I help? (Respond right under this message, I'll be watching for your response). -kevin talkemail 16:20, 22 February 2008 (UTC) Hi Kevin, thanks for being willing to help us. We are doing a project for school and I have some concerns that this article will not stick. How many internal links do you think we need, should we connect it to/and or make it a subpage of "ILLINOIS" under the "U.S. Smoking-Ban", is it too essay-ish? Things like that. I'm not really worried about the Fresh air sign anymore because it will go away on it's own. Oh, I see your email now, bye. Kim Iccgroupone (talk) 16:43, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Hey Kevin, do you think the title is appropriate, or should we change it and if so, how do I do that? Thanks, KimIccgroupone (talk) 04:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
